When is it safe to do mods on brand new car?
When is it safe to do mods on brand new car?
Newbie here when it comes to the G and car mods in general. I was wondering whats the best time to ad mods? Right away, or should I wait till the engine breaks in?
Also, is this mod combo possible? Z-Tube/K&N Filter/and Stillen High Flow Box? What would the estimated HP be? Thanks for all your help guys.......

After break in period is a good time. After market intakes can cause your G to have less power because of the ECU feedback process. The stock ECU will try to compensate for the increase in air and bring it back to stock like settings.
The best mod to get the most out of out G is to find out what you want to do to it and then get the Technosquare ECU flash upgrade.

Increased air? Decreased resistance to filling doesn't necessarily mean increased air flow of any significance.......no intake mod or combination of mods prior to throttle body improves flow by even 2%. Regardless of what they promise in ads.
Loud and different sound is what you are buying.
The ecu doesn't have some air flow limit it tries to stop you from exceeding. Its purpose is to just supply the correct [preprogrammed ratio] of fuel to match the air flow.

The Stillen HiFlow AirBox includes a K&N conical filter.
It easily connects to the 350 Z tube. You don't need to buy
a K&N filter for the Stillen HF AB, it comes with one.

i say drive it stock until you get bored of it. mod it, then have some new fun!
it shouldnt take all that long to get used to the power. i havent even hit break in and i take it hard sometimes. btw - only after it is warmed up for liek 10-20 mins + i dont mean bumping the rev limiter every time and speed shifting. i am at ~750 miles (changed the oil at 500 and babied it till then...maybe i should have done the hard break in technique, but didnt know about it till 100 miles into the car). i am already getting used to the speed. time to mod soon!
another consideration is tho, how long you plan to keep the car. if you are the type of person that keeps a car for 5-10 years and 100K+ miles, then take it easy until it is all broken in.
BTW - these are just my opinions. they have no basis in fact. just my better judgement speaking. if someone has real data to prove otherwise, i will not argue. take from this advice what you have paid, $0.
