Reprogram TPMS question

I recently purchased a used set of coupe 19's that came with TPMS for each wheel. I have read on here, including in the FAQ sticky, that each sensor is programmed unique to the car it is on and new sensors would have to be reprogrammed to be recognized. When I replaced the coupe rims for my stockers, I never had the TPMS light or alarm go on.

Is it possible my ECU recognized the new sensors? I know my system works because it has gone off a couple times before letting me know I needed some air in my tires.

I could let some air out of them to test and see if that would set off the warning, but I'd like to get some opinions from you all before i go that route.

Let me know what you think.

As far as I know, the dealer has to program it to your car. Weird that they didn't go off... I would just deflate one tire and see if the light shows up.

Tire shops might be able to reprogram as well.

There is a DIY method involving grounding the test port. I bought the tool for it, but have yet to try it on my own. Others here have claimed it does work though

You haven't driven your car for over an hour straight, I take it? The system appears normal until about an hour into the drive when the "!" light stays on. You won't hear the beep so according to the FSM it is a pressure sensor system problem.

The same thing happened to me after I replaced my front TPMS when they rusted.

Same experience here. Coupe wheels with Nissan TPMS sensors, but they've only come on twice, both on longer trips of more than an hour or so. Pressure on one tire was down a few pounds the first time, but I hadn't checked them recently. Second time they were fine. I need to get mine reprogrammed too.

Can this be done at a Nissan dealer? Nearest Infiniti is 150 miles away.

You should get them reprogrammed.

Even if the light isn't coming on, they're still not registerring properly. I worked at an infiniti dealer and we charged $120 bucks for a 5 minute job.

Discount tire has the ability to do it. If you have ever purchased anything from them, they'll reset your TPMS for free!

I picked up some 19" rays and had to get the TPMS matched to the car and Discount tire hooked it up

He is right, Discount Tire can reset them for free!!! I took my wheels & tires I bought elsewhere to them to install. I paid $80 for mounting/balancing & TPMS reset.

I did this a few months ago.

https://g35driver.com/forums/wheels-...ial-tools.html

I didn't even use the tool. Just access connector and connect/disconnect to ground a few times. You should be able to get the ecu into the training mode. You set each wheel to a specific tire pressure and drive around for about 10 minutes until the light goes out. Just follow the instructions in the thread.
