This weekend up in VEGAS I some how locked my keys in the car with the motor running. I know this is not supposed to be possible but I did it! And according to the locksmith who was driving a Pathfinder under certain circumstances it is possible to do. The locksmith also said "G35's can not be slim jimmed", he did'nt use a slim jimm to get into mine, and I won't go int what he did do, but it was impressive and fast. The car idled in the Vegas heat with the air on blast for about an hour the int temp gauge said 119, the fans just cycled off and on, and the temp stayed right at its normal place. Be careful leaving the keys in the ignition and expecting the doors to stay unlocked.

 

As a precaution if i have my car running and im not in it... the windows will be down.

 

if you are in your car when the car on, does the door locks. YES. therefore you can. ANY car should for the most part. some cars have it set to lock downs when you put it in D and unlock when you park it. not a safe thing as people can just car jack u

but no i cant not lock my keys in my car.

why because i have I -key. If i lock my key in my car i just hit the button on the nearest door but honestly my key never leaves the pocket =)

Yeah it's rdiculous how these cars are designed. Even on some cheaper cars (i forgot what car tho) when you have the key in the ignition, the car will not lock manually unless you push the power door locks

 

My cadillac had all kinds of fail safes for locking keys in the car and what not but then again..... the target market is older people.....

That being said, we really should remember our keys. (I've done it twice, wallet key FTW)

 

I can firmly say that this has never happened to me... hell i keep the wallet key in my glove box because i just dont need it lol.

 

if locksmiths were criminals.. whew, so much crap can be stolen! just trying to think of how he did it. meh. ill be good

and thank god for the i-key.. but sometimes i walk up to the car and push the button and the door doesnt open so im like noooooooo my i-key battery died only to find out i left my keys in my apartment but yea... keyless entry and start FTW!

 

Not sure if anyone has had this problem, but my Sedan will randomly lock the doors and unfortunately this happened once while I was parked running inside at a family members house (which resulted in me having to borrow a car, running to my house, then back, all while the car was running).

This happens every once in awhile in my garage as well. I always leave my cars in my car and NEVER lock my car while in the garage, however I have a spare key next to my car, since this is an occasional and extremely annoying occurrence.

 

I thought I could never lock my keys in my Honda, because you have to lift the handle when you manually lock the car. Well, after owning my Honda for 10-years and never having a lock-out incident, it finally happened. I locked my keys in the trunk like a dummy! At least the car wasn't running.

The locksmith that opened my car used an air bladder to pry the door open just enough to squeeze a hook in and unlock it.

I have the I-key and I can't think of any way I could possibly lock my key in the car other than if the battery died while it's locked inside.

 

I think that's a safety feature... So you don't forget to lock your car.
