I am painting the center console dash a dark graphite! I got the bottom piece out now problem with a flat head screw driver! (the part with the shifter)

Its the upper piece i need help getting off. I saw a DIY how to take out all of that like that top cubby and the radio etc. But i just want the faceplate to come out so i can paint it. I dont want to take out the radio and cubby?

is that the only way?? or there a way to get the face plate off?

Faceplate IS part of the radio, if that's the faceplate that you're talking about. So, yes, you have to remove the radio.
