Re: Dinged doors! I've got a really good Parking Tip

All good tips, my only tip if you park in a parking lot with plenty of spaces is to align the inside of your tires over the strip so that you are discreetly taking up two spaces. I had 4 dings on my last car but ever since I used this method, I haven't had any.

It just looks like you were in a hurry or something.

Except that I'm the kind of guy that will park 1 inch from your car if you do that so that you can't get back in.

I absolutely hate when people take up two spaces. I think really evil thoughts when I see this.

I keep saying that if I ever go postal, it'll be with an industrial cutting torch in a parking lot.. and everybody that's not completely in their space gets their car chopped right down the white line.

haha common! there is some reason to this.. for example at my school.. ALL of the parking spaces are WAYYYYY too small... If you take up your parkng space, expect yourslef not to be able to open your door enough to get a finger out...

Notice that I said if you're in a parking lot with plenty of space. My work place has plenty of parking so I park as far away as possible. I've noticed an Acure TL Type S, BMW M3, and Porsche Boxter doing the same thing after I started doing it.

I'd rather take the extra 2 minutes to walk than to risk dealing with door dings

I dont think taking 2 space is an good idea...
if you actually take up 2 spaces, most of the ppl will make that they have their key ready to make a big juicy scratch on ur caR~

well in my personal opinion, the best way to keep your car from getting scratched or keyed is NOT TO WASH IT
the shinier your car's finish is, the more likely it will the catch the eye of the envious in the wrong way....

my brother's gf's volvo s40 got keyed all around cause it was all shiny and slick ...

Re: Dinged doors! I've got a really good Parking Tip

Best advice I can give is to not only park in the next zip code but also try to park parallel on a curb...even if you have to get creative. Parallel takes all the variables out or the equation (except YOU..watch out for them purty 17" wheels!). NEVER take two spots. That's just asking for trouble.

Re: Dinged doors! I've got a really good Parking Tip

Maybe it's where I live, most people don't seem to care if I take up two spots or not. In fact, at my job, it's not uncommon to see a whole row of nice cars taking up two spaces each as long as it's the farthest row away from the door. I guess it's just understood around here that some people just love their cars and are willing to walk.
