In a few weeks, farewell fellow G drivers
In a few weeks, farewell fellow G drivers
I have gone to the dark side, no it's a darker side. I just traded in my '04 G and bought a BMW 330 ZHP, awaiting it to be shipped over from Germany. First of all, I have to say this forum and many other G-related forums have the friendiliest and most knowledgeable people of all other automobile forums.
Second, since I have spent extended time in the ZHP, I have to say that G is faster - I am talking about both sedan and coupe not just coupe alone. As opposed to some may argue that they are equally fast despite BMW's horsepower disavantage, G is just fast and unstoppable. Handlingwise, G and ZHP is about the same but I prefer G's steering, way less bump steer than ZHP and regular 330s.
Last but not the least, what sways my purchase decision is the refinement and the smoothness of the I-6 that I've been longing for in a car, not to mention the smoking deal I got. So now I just have to wait for the car to be shipped over from Germany. It has been a real pleasure reading all of your posts, very informed and accurate. Now I just have to pray that this BMW won't turn out to be my last Mercedes <sobs>. I'll see you G drivers on the road and enjoy your cars.

Thanks for being a great contributing member-- My best friend got a ZHP for graduation, and still refuses to take me on I have to say that I love the interior of his car, but I don't think I would've been able to pay the $10k more he did (he did NOT get a smokin' deal). Best of luck, enjoy, and please stop by to tell us all about it!

G to the 8th power,
I enjoyed reading your articulate post. I agree completely with your assessment of this forum's friendly knowledgeable members. While I really didn't get to know you due to my recent joining of the forum, I can see you have thought long and hard, weighed all the pros and cons, and reached an informed decision. No one can argue with that. I'm sure you will enjoy your BMW. They make a beautiful automobile and an incredible engine. In the end we are all car enthusiasts who enjoy getting behind the wheel of a fine automobile and simply driving.
Have a blast and don't look back (because the G will be in front of you!) Just kidding : -D

Latest update. I may not have trade in my G, it's just too good to pass up this beast. I may lease the ZHP for a while and see how the reliability turns out.
