Gotta love that Infiniti Warranty!!

Car has had an annoying humming sound from the front since I got it in Feb.. and lately it has been creaking when I first start out in the morning..

Turns out both front wheel bearings and the left front compression rod are shot.. I had only figured one wheel bearing was bad in the front...

I figure while its in there, they can fix the fact that the speedo is 3mph off and replace the + bulb in the center console.. Also they are ordering up a new faceplate to replace the dented crappy one from the HU being changed out too damn many times..

I have to say, at least this dealership, if not all of Infiniti, is amazing. They don't have any crap excuses, no questions asked..they take your word and go find the bad parts.. I really wish I could justify plunking down the 2400 bux for 7 more years of full warranty.. (mine is up at the end of Nov)..

/ end of happy thread

I am wondering one thing though, I changed the brakes at least 6 months ago.. The car has been to the dealership before, although this is the first time they have had to rip apart the wheel hubs and everything I guess...

But anyway, They called and said the front pads are on wrong, that the spring is not on the hook correctly?? They wanted 55 bux to fix that... WTF is that supposed to mean? I put the correct pads on the correct way.. I have no recollection of a spring up there.. maybe just the little loop do hickey that pads always have... Anyone know what they mean?

The front brake pads have this metal tab that fits into a loop. I think it's for a low brake pad sensor. I would just say leave it and take the wheel off when you get home and put it on correctly. I've only replaced the rear brakes on my car, but bought front and back pads and had noticed what you are referring to.

It's not low pad warning. It's simply there to help keep the pad away from the rotor, when the brakes are released.

So its built into the caliper or is the "spring" the thing on the brake pads?

The clip, or loop is on the brake pads. OEM have two loops on each pad. Some aftermarket pads only have one per pad. The springs are on the metal clips, that go between the pad mounting points and the caliper. Also, make sure you apply brake lube to those pointing points. If you're unsure about what I'm talking about, review the FSM. It has pictures.

Was the "humming sound" from the bad wheel hub a constant? Good thing you got warranty coverage to take care of that stuff.

It was always there, not totally constant. The humming was always there, but it was louder and quieter, louder and quieter as I was driving down the road. It got worse over the course of 8 months and I could feel the vibration in the steering wheel and was really noticable when I was veering to the right.. Yeah, very happy about having warranty to do this..
