Need to tighten driver's interior door handle
Hi all,
I have a 2006 G35 sedan. Now that I've gotten the center console rattle resolved (dealer padded the inside of the console where the seams are), I have another one I want to fix and am wondering if it's something I can do. I have a slight rattle that seems to be coming from the upper area of my driver's window but I notice if I push in on my interior driver's door door arm rest/handle, the noise stops. So I'm thinking it may be the door armrest, not the window causing the noise. How would I go about tightening the interior driver's door armrest? There are no screws holding it on so I guess it's secured from inside the door itself? Is it possible to get to it somehow to tighten the armrest? Thanks, Mary |
Mary,
1. Wrap the tip of a small flathead screwdriver with tape. 2. Carefully pry the silver trim piece off the armrest using the screwdriver in the notches at the bottom of the piece. 3. Tighten the bolts in armrest. 4. Snap the trim piece back on. 4. Done. Should take you no more than 5 minutes a door. |
My outside door handles rattle on EVERY door, any fixes for that?? Sorry to thread jack but its getting really annoying and i was going to make a new thread anyway haha. Thanks.

Thanks, Blue. I took off the trim and checked the screws. They were very tight so that rules out the armrest being loose. It's just weird that when I hear what sounds like the window rattling I give the armrest a shove and it stops. What's in the door panel right behind the armrest that could be temporarily stopping the rattle when I push on the armrest and any fix for it that anyone knows of? Thanx and happy Friday!

Just get some thin single-sided adhesive foam tape (should be with weatherstripping at Home Depot) and run it around so there's no plastic-on-metal or plastic-on-plastic contact inside the door.

shows pics and a vid on how to pop off the silver piece on the door and where the screws are. |

When you say inside the door do you mean inside the door panel, so take the panel off and run tape in there, or do you mean inside the car where the door is? I have no idea how to take the door panel off but if it's easy I'll give it a whirl.

They're talking about taking off the door panel and addressing the inside where the plastic ribs touch metal. If you haven't read through this do so. https://g35driver.com/forums/body-in...l-removal.html
Removing the panel is easy. If this doesn't fix the problem, one more possible cause would be the window regulator bolts. They can be a possible cause of window creaking both front and back. Good luck with your project :) |
Question, in the drawing it says "replace these bolts". Yet in the video he just uses locktite. So am I supposed to replace the bolts or just use locktite and put the original bolts back on? Thanks
