I need to know I am not alone
Ok, here is the scoop. My wife thinks that I have a serious case of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) with keeping our G clean. She thinks that I love our car more than her. While some days that is true, I just like having a clean car. Nothing wrong with that right??
On average, I usually wash my car about 3-4 times a week and wax it about once every 3-4 weeks. She makes fun of me because I am always wiping off finger prints off of the chrome door handles.
Anyways, I can't be the only person here that is a little fussy when it comes to having a clean G am I?

Thats what I did when mine was new. I have not washed my
Sedan in a month. Getting lazy, twilight blue is so hard
to keep looking clean. You will get over it sometime.

Wash 3-4 times a week? Do you do it yourself or go to the car wash? My wife gets our G wash about twice a month. 3-4 times a week is kind of ****. No disrespect intended.

I'm assuming that you do not have a garage for the car. If you do, then you are probably overdoing it. I have to keep our G outside so I cover it with a high-quality, custom fit car cover (about $150). The only thing I need to keep after is the brake dust (I clean the wheels only about twice a week) and cleaning the windshield and exhaust tips regularly and as necessary. You would be amazed how clean the car will stay under a good cover.

Re: I need to know I am not alone
Yes I wash it by hand, I would never take it through a car wash. And I do have a two car garage that it is parked in every night. My G is obsidian black so it is super hard to keep clean. Any keeping the rims clean is a real chore, that brake dust is something else.
Re: I need to know I am not alone
I try to wash 2 to 3 times a week. I park outside, so the morning dew just makes it difficult to keep clean.
What really makes it hard to keep claen is my family, right after I wash it they roll the windows down, even after I ask them not to(4 year old) leaves his prints all over the windows and chrome pieces...but then what can you do..he's only 4.

Re: I need to know I am not alone
My Sedan puts out more than my wife, so if she accused me of loving it more than her I've have to concede I'm afraid (She never complains though, since I'm careful and I always take my car to a motel to clean it

canuck,
I am exactly like you. In fact I might even be more obsessive. I wash 3-4 times a week plus I wax once a week! I also get the jokes from my wife and neighbors, but I could care less. I park miles away from stores, slow down when going over rough roads or bumps, won't let the kids play in the garage when the G is parked there, and never open the windows so I can keep the new-car smell as long as possible. Yes, I should be committed!

yep fotodad, we are EXACTLY alike. My wife complains non-stop when we go shopping because I park so far away from the store.
Re: I need to know I am not alone
My wife and neighbors thought I was a little obsessive about keeping my car clean.... until another neighbor bought a new car -- he makes me seem like I neglect my car.
Funny thing is, my wife just got a new Toyota Sienna -- she sheepishly came to me to borrow some wax and then asked me to help. Now she is yelling at the neighbor kids to stay back from her van...

Re: I need to know I am not alone
I wash once a week and wax about once a week as well. my fiance makes fun of me as well because im always checking my wheels for any possible scratches or curb rash after i valet park, or i do a once over if i park in a parking lot to look for door dings and such. i wash imediately if i gotta a bird bomb on my car, that drives her crazy. i know where all you all are coming from.
Re: I need to know I am not alone
Geez, you wash the whole car if you get some bird bomb (I like that term, LOL) on it? I thought I was bad, I carry a spray bottle of water and a couple of towels in my trunk for that, and just usually clean that off, not the whole car!

Re: I need to know I am not alone
Mine is garaged and there are not too many bugs where I live in the bay area so my car stays somewhat clean. It gets a bath about once every 10 days. 3-4 times a week is a lot.
