Used Pricing
Used Pricing
Ugh, I am banging my head against a wall about getting the wife a new car. We have been back and forth about new or used, luxury or basic, yada yada yada. She said she liked the new Accord, but for about the same price she could have a used G35, which she admitted she would rather have (SCORE!!!). This after I had to talk her out of the MB C230 Sedan (37K+ out the door, on a car that invoiced for 31 and change, figure that math out???). She works in a pretty bad neighborhood as a teacher, and apparently there has been some car vandalism, but they fenced int he parking lot now. So we decided a new G35 may not be a good idea if anything did happen.
So, I have been looking for a Silver Premium with the black leather, AT. 03' or 04' doesn't matter, just under 30k miles. I have only found 1 03' that matches that in our area and they wanted invoice price on a NEW 04' for it. It seems like pricing is all over the board on the used G35's. Any ideas on what a good price for a lower mileage 03 or 04 with premium would be????

Re: Used Pricing
No, you aren't the only one interested in a used G35. The problem I have is, I can't get the Mrs. to agree we need a 3rd car. I want to keep my Ranger for winter, the G for when the weather is better (I live in Omaha.) The pricing I've seen around here has been what I consider high, but that's the price we pay for wanting a car with a high resale value. I have found a 03 with sport package that they asking $29k for with 13,000 miles on it. I'd say invoice for an 04 is a little steep - I'm sure they will come down.

Re: Used Pricing
I bought a 2003.5 G35s in April with 4K miles for 30K out the door. The car was loaded with sport, aero, navi, winter and sirius.
A similarly equipped 2004 brand new would have cost me close to 37K out the door.

Re: Used Pricing
Honestly, I haven't even gotten an offer of invoice from a local dealership yet. Basically I have patience on my side. Best I have gotten on an 04' was 2% over invoice on a car I didn't want, but the second I drive off the lot I have a used 04' and REALLY get whacked on the depreciation. I am sure 2 months after they come out I could negotiate invoice on an 05.
That is why a used 03' or 04' is pretty appealing to me. I laid it out to the saleman this morning. Basically "You have 85 04's on the lot and it is the end of the month and model year. What are you gonna do for me? Invoice ain't gonna cut it, and I am not gonna pay 29K for a used G35. If you can work with that, great. If not, I'll find someone who will. Thanks!" Interested to see what he comes up with.

Re: Used Pricing
Yes, the G35 is holding value well. I thought about selling mine (second child on the way)and was amazed at the trade in and retail values. I bought my silver sedan used 1 year ago with: 19K miles, auto, winter, sport, aero packages, BOSE, NISMO nose, for only $25.5K. It's still worth the same now with 32K miles private party value.
However, with Infiniti now offering 1.9% it may be worth going new.
My aunt has a new Accord and it's been in the shop 4 times already...brakes, headliner falling, etc. I've driven it no contest get the G35.
If you live in the midwest I'll sell you my car, much as I hate to.
