Is the 350z really any faster than our car? I have raced several on the highway, neither of them would pull from me. A 350z owner keeps saying the 350z is a high 13 sec car bone stock, no way the g35 can be the same speed, blah blah blah.

A stock 350 6speed does 13.7 1/4 miles all day long - no G gets there without mods over 4k or more even. Z's can be slow but only because of the driver. A modded G auto can beat a 6 speed 350 for sure tho - but not on paper

6-5, I am not doubting your 13.7 claim, but I am like 4 for 4 against different 350Zs and that includes multiple runs...nothing better than 2.2 60' time, but nothing worse than a 2.4 60' time...so bone stock...and on stock tires...I don't see how a 350Z (all 6 spds of course) can rip off a 13.7...not even a 13.9...they just don't have anything going over a G until 3rd gear, but by then it's too late.

The 60' times I am referring to indicate they are not spinning the tires through all of 1st gear either so I just don't know...our track is at 60' above sea level too...;-)

I got a 2003.5 G35 Sedan 6mt and a 2004 350z Roadster 6mt, just seat of the pants, the 350z feels faster (although not a lot faster). I've yet to take either car to a track tho.

When we went to ATCO last april there were Z's doing 14.4s and Z's doing 13.6. Two guys with stockers (one may have had a cai) were burning down the track and they talked about it extensively at my350.com - search for atco. They were as surprised as you I think. Then one of the big 3 mags had the test car doing 13.7 consistently or 13.8 maybe and they were estatic. The shorter wheel base would help 60ft times right. Our modded G's would probaby run or walk a bit by a Z on the road - but laucnh a Z 6MT or even G 6MT and you can lose unless you got sub 13 times at 100. You are there too bud. If you could add a gear you would never lose.

Wow...those must be some sick drivers...I don't know if the shorter wheel base helps with 60' times...good question though.

I just meant that you need below 14 not below 13 1/4 mile times to beat a Z. I'd love for you to be at 12.9 in the 1/4 but I mispoke.

and what exactly makes them so much faster?

1. weight
2. 287 hp vs 277 hp <--- not a big deal IMO
3. carbon fiber driveshaft
4. more aggressive ecu program
5. ??? what else is there?

i read on my350z about some guys who were keeping up with M3's with only NA bolt on mods. WTF? is that for real? how can they be so much faster than us? it makes no sense.

I think #3 and #4 in your list could make for significant difference, especialy not in how much power it makes but how well it delivers it to the ground.
