New Buyer Seeks Advice
I see you already put a deposit down. I was going to suggest a Subaru Legacy GT for the power of the WRX, but comfort of a larger car. I believe they are about the same price as a G35 x of the same year.
I actually much prefer the styling of the G over any of the cars in the Subaru line up. Only thing I don't like about the G is the fact that the rear seats don't fold. The reclining is a nice option but I'd probably get more use out of a folding bench since I don't have many people ride in the back. Either way, I'm excited...
You'll appreciate the mods on a daily basis vs. only the weekend!!! Doea that make sense? =P

I agree with you on the styling preference, as I detest subarus.
you made a good choice, and at a good price too (especially CPO). I won't buy a used car unless it is CPO.
one thing you might want them to check on before you actually take delivery are the tires. I believe tires need to be replaced about once every 5 years or 50,000 miles. so see if they can throw that into the deal as well as the first couple of oil changes.
also, take a close look at their scheduled maintainance plan. if the car is due for a 40k checkup, that could be costly, so see if they'll cover that too.
good luck, and congrats.
don't sell yourself short, once the shorties see your ride, you could have some frequent company in the back....

thanks man. unfortunately in order to get this deal, i had to pass up on the local dealers so i'll be driving out 2hrs to pick up the car so it'd be pointless to get free oil changes. but i'll see if they deduct the cost of 40k maintenance.
Congrats, that's a very fair price for a G35x CPO. I just bot an '06 CPO for $20.1 with 32k miles after doing the same comparison with the same alternative models you considered. I, too, use it for my daily commute of about 50 miles r.t. On winter gas (in Iowa) with about 80% hwy I can get 21 - 22 mpg if I drive like a complete puss. About 19 if I drive legally but in a sporty way. Add a couple mpg once we get back to summer non-oxygenated gas. Not bad, my previous Acura TSX got 3-4 mpg better under similar driving conditions as a 200 hp / 167 lb-ft, 4-cyl, 6MT. Our extra 80 hp and 100 lb-ft has to come from somewhere...
As for modding: take the other guys' advice and delete this site from your "Favorites" immediately, if not sooner.
My intention was to leave the G bone-stock, too. I have a similar fair weather/track car ('05 Porsche Boxster S) to mod on. Then I discovered G35Driver. I have the OEM Z-tube and Motordyne 5/16" spacer already -- both of which are ridiculously easy installs and produce nice, stealthy gains -- and a Cobb Accessport on the way. I'll probably do cats and be done. Nothing cheesy or intrusive, just a little bump in power similar to an '07. You'll do the same; you'll succumb to the dark side.
In terms of reliability, at least by reputation and Consumer Reports since my experience is limited thus far, the G35 is tops. Better than any of the Germans and some of the Japanese even. I have found it to be a quiet, comfortable car that satisfies sporting intentions when the Porsche has to sit in its garage. Great choice!
P.S. -- if you don't have XM radio and want it, that's a super-easy install, too. Everything's pre-wired, you just plug and play. First thing I did as I can't listen to broadcast radio every day for 50 miles.

^^ Thanks...
Yes, I've been reading this forum non-stop just to gather some info on the car. One thing that stuck out is the Oil Consumption TSB but it seems this only affects the manual transmissions and the automatics are immune?
I have to fight the temptation! Knowing I want to keep the CPO good to 100k, prob won't touch the car until then - not sure how the dealers are around here. Only mods I'm tempted to do is the DD conversion & throw in some yellow fogs.
Can anyone in the tri-state area suggest a good indy shop for service? Also, what is the suggested oil change interval? Full synthetic? How many quarts?

Oil change interval depends on which service "plan" you want to follow. The more aggressive schedules (Premium or Schedule 1) are every 3,750 miles. I use Mobil 1 in my cars and have also had great luck with Amsoil. (Not wanting to sidetrack into an oil brand-wars thread.) Oil and filter takes five quarts.

Did the one you selected come with NAV?
if so, then pre-installed is the maintainance schedule (it will let you know when to change oil/filter) as well as let you know your MPG (as well as how many miles left before empty).
this is an added benefit that an aftermarket NAV cannot replicate (as easily, I think)

nope no nav but i actually prefer not to have it. i'm never a fan of oem navi systems b/c they get outdated in just a few years time and cost more than aftermarket. but i can live w/o the service indicator
i'll have to read the manual thoroughly tomorrow. dont want to post all my noob questions here unless someone cares to explain the diff bet "premium" and "schedule 1". i just want to stick to a plan that will ensure the dealer won't deny any warranty work. also are infiniti dealers **** when it comes to where you get your car serviced? does it have to be a dealer or as long as i have a receipt from any indy shop...?

so long as it is an Infiniti dealership, you should be able to get it serviced under warranty. I think they just send the bill to the Infiniti HQ.
taking it to a jiffy lube as opposed to an Infiniti dealership for an oil change will only save you $30. to me, it's not worth it. but if the closest one is 2 hrs away, see if a Nissan dealership can perform the same work and still be covered under warranty. I recall that there might be some discussion here on that topic not too long ago.

I wouldn't let jiffy lube change my washer fluid...let alone the oil.
I've had plenty of friends work at quick lube places. I could tell you some scary stories.
Either go to dealer, or find a good local independant shop your trust....or learn to do it yourself.
I'm picky and do it myself. My car is at the dealer right now for warranty work, and the oil change reminder just came on, and yet in the trunk of my loaner, is 5 quarts of oil and a filter so i can do it when I get the car back. Did i mention it's 20 degrees out too? I'm that bad when it comes to who works on my cars.

thanks guys, no i def won't go to a jiffy lube. i've heard some bad stories as well. i don't mind doing oil changes but i find myself busier in the recent months where it just seems easier to pay someone else to do it, plus i don't have to worry about holding onto receipts.
ideally i'll go to a good local indy known for working on nissan/infiniti's or just go to a nissan dealership.
car has been great so far, can't find anything wrong with it. only thing i have to look into is the heated seats. they take really long to warm up and i only feel something if i push down on the left side. if push the button down on the right side, nothing... weird.
