Coupe seats in a Sedan

Coupe seats in a Sedan
Hey Folks,
I just managed to put black leather coupe seats (both driver and passenger) into my sedan. It fits and I had to do some custom wiring for the seat control. I lost the seat memory(which I hardly used) feature. I also disabled the automatic seat movement feature the coupe has when you let the people out of the back seat. The seat is a little lower than the stock sedan seats and the blostering makes getting the seat belt a little harder. However, the blostering the coupe has is much better than the sedan stock. I can pull fast cornering without slipping out of the seat now. Will have to see if I like it long term.

Re: Coupe seats in a Sedan
I've never doubted they'd be a easy swap, I just wish their was a ample supply of them for sale. When they do show up for sale their on the expensive side to say the least. One things for sure its rather unproductive to have to bury your left elbow into the side of the seat or jam your knee into the door when your cornering hard. I want to do Z seats as I find them more comfortable, in fit and in price.

hey gsedan35, i think the coupe seats are actually better than the 350z seats. more supportive, and they have the G35 stitching on them.
any chance of a DIY...though i imagine its quite simple...

Re: Coupe seats in a Sedan
I'll take some pictures this weekend when the sun is shining. I typically get off work after sun down. I looked at the Z seats as well and found them to be not as good as the coupe seats IMO. Plus the coupe seats match in the sedan and for the untrained eye look stock. I have the service manuals for both the coupe and sedan. The wiring diagrams are provded for each of the seat configurations. The connectors and/or pinouts are different from coupe to sedan for the seat control only. The airbag and seat belt sensor connectors are identical between the coupe and sedan. I didn't want to cut off the existing connectors for the seat control nor was there room to splice into the wires. So I just ported 12v and Ground from the car side connector to the seat connector with custom soldered wires. The airbags are connected but don't know if they'll deploy!!! and there's no engine code showing. The seatbelt sensor is also connected with no problem.
The passenger side looks like between 1 to 2 inchs lower than the stock passenger seat. There's no vertical seat control either. For the driver side, you can null out the vertical difference since you can adjust the vertical position.

Re: Coupe seats in a Sedan
Oh yeah, dyen, i did not have to replace the tracks. just unbolted the coupe seats, unbolted the sedan seats, then bolted down the coupe seats in the sedan. it took about 3 hours. it took more time to find the small spade connectors i needed to make the power connection.
