sorry guys no updates, I have not gotten the other front sway because I started a new position and been busy. If I feel better by the weekend I will go pick it up and then start working with Tony. Again sorry about the wait and no updates.

After being under my car twice in the last 2 weeks (oil change, front diff fluid change), I'm wondering how much beefier one can make the front sway bar. I didn't get a measurement on it, but there's not much play under there for anything thicker, and how much stiffer is an aftermarket sway going to be. Just wondering aloud. I'm sure part of the design/manufacturing process will take that into account, i.e. is it noticeably better than stock?

Thanks for the update Lump, and congrats on the new position. And no worries on the delay. I know I'm not in a hurry to get back under my car any time soon. I managed to do both fluid changes when it was close to 40 outside, so my garage was relatively warm. It's going below zero tonight and tomorrow, so one thing I won't be doing is working on my car.

 

Where is the bar Ernie? I might be able to help. And if your stock bar is hollow, making it solid will make it stiff w/o making it larger.

 

^ +1, I dont know what material the OEM one is, but It could also be made out of a more rigid material. There are many routes to creating a "better" product

 

The bar is in Tacoma, so I just have to drive down there to get it. Some guy is parting an X out. Yeah when I talked to Tony I was concern that if it was not a bigger bar then how would it be stiff. Then he said a solid bar is stiffer than a hollow bar. I should be able to pick it up this weekend. I just hope they guy is home.

So got some bad news on getting that front sway. I called up and the guy seem kind of shady so I am not going to go there with that. Sorry it might take alittle longer than we wont. But I am working on getting one soon.

I want this as much as you guys but not going to deal with shady people.

 

Since most of the AWD's are probably DD's, I doubt someone has theirs sitting in a garage for the winter, so we can't borrow one like we could off a stored vehicle. So maybe we can find one at a junk yard or online and put some sort of group buy together so we can get this thing rolling. If we found one for $75-$100, that's only $3-$4 per person on the wish list. We could all send it to one Paypal account. A small investment from each of us that, worst case, costs us a fancy coffee or a good pint of beer, but best case might get us a new sway before the snow melts. Whoever sells it could even give us an equivalent discount if we end up buying one.

 

Lumpy, we can approach others? Seems we have a nice group here to make a deal.

It wasnt the company that I was talking about. It was getting the extra front sway from someone on craigslist that worried me.

I am trying some other options to get a front. I will keep you posted.
