Here's my fees for going to see AVATAR in 3D:

Ticket-- 10.50
12 oz Coke- $5
1/4 lbs loose penny candy (about the size of a small snickers bar)- $3
1 large popcorn- 7.50
I large candy for my friend- $4.75
2 bottled waters- 7.70

Total= $38.45

2 restroom trips-- free (priceless)

Are theaters and stealerships owned by the same people?

He just gave me a dumb look. They make no money for recalls so they try hard to find something wrong. I agree with everyone here try to do the work yourself.

To be honest, i don't even think they check half the stuff.

They told me i needed a new cabin air filter. It's 2 months old and brand new. They told me i needed the AWD service and even put three (!!!) next to it. I had done in 5K miles ago and was rewarded with very clean fluid.

I just assume since their records show i didn't pay them to do it that it wasn't done at all.

I hate telling the dealer i do the stuff all myself. It's like they assume you don't know what you are doing and just screwed up the car and they'll have to fix it. They give you a weird look when they tell you you did the AWD service yourself after they go on for 5 mins telling me my car is going to blow up if i don't get it done. It's 5 quarts of fluid and a couple hours time. Why does this cost $300??

Hell, my front diff fluid looked brand new anyway. Needless to say i won't be worried about going a little longer on my diff service esp since i'm running Mobil 1 syn now.

Yeah those prices are bogus... I'd actually go there and tell them to their face!
Having work done by the dealership used to mean it was done right... not any more
I've been behind the dealer working on my grandmother's car and the crap work they did astounded me... and I'm NOT a "professional mechanic"

That's it... you didn't get her popcorn and a soda (add $12)??? I'm not complaining, in fact I bought my own everything, that way it was a clean "date" with no strings attached.

Is that normal pricing? Do I need to do it? Maybe I could just do some of it? Maybe it could be done by a shop other than the dealership?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Any nissan dealer can do the same tune up for about 1/2 the price

These prices are from a combined Nissan/Infiniti dealership.

They are called the STEALERSHIP for a reason!

I just paid about $370 ODT for my 30k service from a reputable nissan/infiniti shop which included the following services:

mobil1 oil change + mobil1 filter, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, differential fluid, cabin filter, air filter, tire rotation, other various inspections.

BTW all fluids were OEM Nissan other than the differential fluid (they used Kendall). IMO most of these small shop mechanics are more meticulous & skilled than the dealer mechanics.

They are really sticking it to ya. Shop around!

I understand that mechanic work isn't cheap. It costs money to run a shop, stock parts, keep liability insurance, and pay mechanics even when work is slow. A lot of times it's clearly cheaper to do it yourself, but to put things into perspecive I usually ask myself "would I do the work on someone elses car for what the dealer is charging?" Usually, the answer is no, and that's why I don't do auto mechanics for a living.

I do almost all my own work, and although I do save a lot of money, it's mostly because I don't know if the mechanic at the dealership that would be working on my car is a professional with 30 years of experience or a hungover high school dropout.

So with that said, if I could get one car a day to come in and pay me $1,100 for a 30K inspection I would open a shop tomorrow.
