Time to finally solve this problem: iPhone Setup & Center Console

Okay so every few months or so I try to see where people are installing their ipod or iphones and never really seem to be makin any progress on it. I saw 2point5 ashtray setup and i was in love with it until i realized my iPhone would block my navigation screen.

The above website has a really nice setup for the cup holder but I'm not sure if I want to permanently give up my cup holder.

So I figure I have two options, try to figure out how to install a iPod dock in that useless flip up storage bin, or maybe I can get a completely new center console that is more easily customizable than the current one. Not sure about the whole center console thing though, could get expensive and I'm not sure how different it'd be.

Anyone have any ideas that haven't been mentioned on the forums already? I've looked at all the old threads but nothing seemed like a good solution.

I would fabricate a new center console if you have the inspiration to do so.

By the way, why do you want to have a special place for your iphone? I would just get a double din deck with bluetooth? leave the iphone in the center console while your driving. The way the guy has his ipod in his car doesn't even make sense. Since the ipod is integrated in the system, there is no need for the ipod to be out.

Let me know your thoughts!

I agree ^^^ I just have a USB port ran to my center console. (Pioneer headunit) I just simply plug a regular iPod/iPhone cord into that USB then to my iPhone... and it sounds great and everything is controlled from the unit (and charges my phone)... I don't really mind the cord either hanging out or storing it in the console... seeing as how it rings through my speakers if anything comes through.

Just my $0.02

is this about aftermarket head units or? what is it? im a little confused..

I installed this in my 03 sedan:
http://www.g35parts.com/G35-iPod-Fac...999u7-ipod.htm

i installed it just like this:
http://qmbf9.6r23x.servertrust.com/v...podinstall.pdf

and when to ipod is hooked up, you use the buttons on the radio to control it. the ipod buttons dont work at all while its hooked up, so why do u want to install a "holder" or watever, why not just rout the cable into your centor console and leave it there?

or am i missing the point of this thread....?

Sorry that it took me a while to respond to this. But I have an Iphone it's not like I only need it to listen to music. I get phone calls, text messages, can browse through youtube if I want to play a song from youtube on my radio, so I find myself always fumbling for my phone even though I can navigate all the songs from my Kenwood DVD player.

Here's my setup, you don't see it but my USB/Ipod cable is inside of the flip up cubby storage thing,, that's where I want to somehow install a dock for the iPod. There's gotta be a way to do this. I'm not the handiest person in the world but I'll look around. The closest thing I found to what I like is 2point5.com but I want that setup in the little flip up cubby instead of the ashtray so it doesn't cover my navigation screen.
