Sanding stainless/aluminum interior trim

Hello, my wife's wedding ring is scratching my stainless/aluminum interior trim. Has anyone tried sanding their stainless/aluminum trim in order to remove scratches? If so, how did it turn out? Thanks in advance.

Yes, the door pulls. But mine are brushed stainless steel, so when they're scratched it's just a scratch going against the grain of the original finish. It cannot be painted; it's steel.

It can be done, if they arent deep and cant feel them I recommend trying a 1000 grit and moving up to 1500 after getting the scratches out. A good polish with a dremel and polish kit with some mothers mag should do the trick.

Haha. You knows cars are made out of steel and they are painted right? Yes it can be painted. If you are looking to keep it the brushed metal look take jacks advice. p.s. just bout anything can be painted with the right prep

First, I'd have to paint all of the trim or it would not match. Second, the paint would almost surely come off. I'm attaching a couple of pictures...hopefully this will help.

When you're done refinishing them, you could have them covered with the 3M clear car-bra stuff.
