That depends on the tires, not all snows are created equal nor are all AS tires. Given average tires in each category I'd say the overall snow performance will be about the same (RWD w/ snows vs AWD w/ AS).

If I lived near DC I'd get RWD.

also i plan on dong a little modding at first but in the future i probably will get a little deeper like engine rebuild and/or adding a turbo. Which year is best for modding. I may be off but too me the 03 04 models look a lil smaller than the 05/06. Do they have the same engines?

Rated differently at the fly wheel by nissan (260 vs. 280), but dyno nearly the same at the wheels, give or take 5 whp. Yes same engines, if you have an 05+ manual transmission you have the rev-up engine, rev-up engines benfit more from mods. BUT, then those rev-up engines are known to have oil consumption problems, if you happen to run in one with that problem you will have to replace the long block. All others are non-revup.

If you can get an 05-06 mt without the problem than you are good. I prefer an 04 mt because there are more aesthetics mods available for the 03-04 years.

I never bought into the RWD + Snows > AWD + A/S blanket statement.

I won't dispute that when it comes to braking and turning, that it's much easier to do on snow tires than A/S tires...but when it comes to actual propulsion, i find that still having 4 wheels driving is much better than 2 wheels...esp for certain manuvers or situations.

If you have good all-season tires on, and don't live where you get 12"+ inches per snowstorm on a weekly basis and ice every night, you should be good. Most metro areas plow quickly and keep the roads good, so if you don't need to drive during the actual blizzard, i found that all-seaons work just fine for me.

I have snows i ran this winter..but i think i'll sell them. I only have 1 set of wheels for my car and swapping tires is getting old to me.

That's what I pretty much do.

AWD X as my DD (i also have an IS250 AWD for the woman), and a Mustang in my garage as my project car.

I always say i'm gonna mod my G35, but 2 years later I have yet to put a single mod I said I wanted on the car. I prob have the car that is the most stock vs actual timeframe of ownership on here. It's not that I don't want to....i really do want a spacer, z-tube, drop-in K&N, exhaust, drop, coupe 19's, etc etc....but i just put the money into my project car instead.

Thumbs up 6mt....

I bought a 06 Sedan 6MT and couldn't be happier....

I live in New England which sucks for snow sometimes... So I bought a 1995 G20 for my winter driver and i keep my G35 parked! Best way to go...
