According to the Infiniti website and what I was told when I bought my car, CPO is 72 months or 100K.
I'm not familiar with all the different Elite options, but the website states that the Infiniti Elite Extended Protection Plan provides an additional year of coverage, $0 deductible, expanded component coverage, expanded roadside assistance, and is fully transferable. This is in line with what I was told when I purchased the Elite add-on. It must be different if you are buying the Elite plan without it being CPO.

I have to assume the options of buying a warranty after you have the car would be different than the options for when you bought CPO - in my case, I bought the Elite plan for a used car that was still under the Basic Warranty...

what I do and recommend is that you put some money in an account or in a can in your yard for your car.
I would put whatever your warranty is costing you a month into that can, and if you need it use it, I bet you wont use the money.

I don't think they are a very good investment in most cases - but if you're someone who is ok making the relatively small payment monthly, but think you may not have the cash for that one or two big repairs (like a transmission, for example), it is probably worth the peace of mind knowing you have trip interruption, free loaner car, and full repair paid for if needed...

Could just be the options have changed - or are different based on year of car vs time of buying the plan, etc... My paper work shows an option for the CPO "Wrap", which shows 84 month now instead of 72 month... Either way, my point is the same, which is just that there are a lot of options, and you can tailor the used car warranty to your typical driving habits & how long you typically keep a car...

I agree though, I'm sure the options are different buying it after the fact.
As for the Elite warranty itself, if I had it to do over I probably wouldn't have added it on. I do like the idea of my car being CPO though just for the fact that it went through an extensive inspection. There was over $2K in maintenance work done before I bought it.

i have a 2003 G35, purchased Jan of 03' right now it has 61k miles. end of september of 2008 they called and said bring it in for extended warranty. gave us 48 months w/ 48k miles for $1,800. at the time it had 43k miles, now its good till 91k miles and sept of 2012. The warranty has been used for things like a new drivers seat seat rail, new compression rods and bushings and new fuel pump actuator. who knows if window motors go too. hopefully it will pay for itself. $50 deductible. not bad with dealer labor charges. i think its a decent deal. oh and its transferable and refundable.

Only Infiniti models less than four years old and with under 60,000 miles qualify for the program, and then they must pass a rigorous inspection. So when you take delivery, your Certified Pre-Owned Infiniti includes a 72-month/100,000 total-vehicle-mile warranty, roadside assistance, trip interruption benefits and towing assistance.

BTW, the CPO does NOT cover the Nav or Bose systems beyond 4 years/60K miles. You need to get an Elite Plan to have those covered.

You're contradicting yourself. Is it 128K or 100K? If you got a CPO, then the warranty is up to 6 years or 100K, it doesn't add 100K of coverage to the current mileage. If your paperwork says the powertrain's up to 128K, then the dealer screwed up, because they'll be on the hook for anything over 100K. Infiniti isn't going to cover it beyond that.

It's 6 years from the original in-service date, not 6 years from the time you bought it. I got my '05 as a CPO/Elite Plan in November of 2008. It's in-service date was 9/05, so my warranty (7 years/100K) is good until September of 2012.

+1. I made the mistake of getting an extended warranty for this car over 5 years ago. Haven't had to use it once and it's just about ready to expire. No matter what you read on this site, these cars are very reliable. Consumer Reports rates the 1st gen G35's reliability as "well above average" in terms of reliabilty. Not many cars can claim that designation.

They base the prices on the mileage of the car at time of purchase - I paid $1300 for that 48mo/48k for my '06X with 28k miles - they did tell me that if I waited until after I passed 30k miles the price would go up a couple hundred - but I think you may have some negotiating room with the dealer if you didn't pay yet....
FYI - the elite warranty is almost a bumper-bumper plan - it is quite a bit more expensive than buying only a drivetrain warranty...

How long ago did you purchase the $1300 48/mo.48K for your 06 w/28K miles and exactly which dearlership & the person's name? Was that the "Elite Extended Warranty" that you purchased? I'm pricing around & thinkin about getting an extended warranty & i have 2,400 more to go before I reach the 30,000 mark, so I need info ASAP so I can call them.

I've never forked over the money for an extended plan. I keep an eye on all fluid levels make sure that I perform the basic maintenance and have never had a problem.
With that being said, most of the extended warranties I've seen were very limited in what they covered and wouldn't have really helped me if something catastrophically failed anyways.
If the car has had all of its maintenance performed at the indicated service intervals, I would skip on the plan.
