MY shifter console RED DOT IS GONE
WENT TO THE DEALER THEY WANTED 500.00 TO FIX THAT
ITS 05 G35 COUPE WITH 35,000 OUT OF WANANTY
HOW DO YOU FIX THAT.... SEE THERE NO RED DOT TO INDICATE WHERE IF YOU IN DRIVE OR PARK THE LIGHTS WORK NOT BULB

 

The shaft of the shifter did not go through the shift indicator bezel when the console was reassembled. It is a simple fix if you know how to pop the plate off. If not, just go back to the dealer.

 

i did go dealer ...they want 500.00 bucks to fix it
they said........... replace whole shift assembly

 

Take it apart, and you should be able to put it back together right... if the red bit broke off, tape it back together.

 

do not go to dealer, everyone kept telling me to go dealership when my shift gear lights went off, the dealership wanted me to replace the whole assembly, and being asian, I'm cheap so I said its ok. So i went online, found the bulb size, bought the bulbs for 5 bucks, and popped it in. Good as new. Try to pop up the console and see whats up.

I could literally fix this with no tools in less than 5 minutes.

 

Then cut him a deal at $400.

Talk To Vivek..he's Indian..they have alot of red dots(just got to pry them off their foreheads.

 

Why do you even need it? I never look at the shifter when I put my car in gear, there is an indicator on the gauge cluster.

OP, it's not very hard to take the center console apart. I've done it on mine several times. Just look for a DIY, download the FSM or go pick up a Haynes manual.

 

I changed my bulb, but the Red Dot is not bright

 

Look at the double-din install guides (A/V DIY) to see how to take it apart. Easy.
