Tire question
Tire question
Just got a wheel alignment and new rear tires for my 06 g35x
My Rims are stock 7 spoke 17inch
Factory tires = 215 - 55 - 17
These guys put size 225 - 50 - 17 tires on my car
Is this a big deal? Could there be any issues in the long run?

235 50 17 wouldve been alot closer but i dont think that will matter much

225 cross section will grip a tiny bit better and a 50 ratio will give you a very slightly more aggressive final drive, so you may actually feel a tiny bet more pep... unless the tires weigh more.
So you have 225-50-17 (new ones) on the rear & 215/55/17 on the front?

Make sure you mention it's a sedan.

Ok, now back to the OP problem....
Rimlas, if I understand correctly, you're saying you only had the rear tires replaced, and they went back with a different size from the front... right?
If so, that's not good for the AWD system. On a RWD car, it's not a problem, but an AWD needs the OVERALL DIAMETER of the front and back tires to be very close to the same, which the two sizes you mentioned are somewhat close, they may not be close enough.
I'll wait for an AWD expert to post up how close the front and rear diameter should be, as I don't personally know.

The only way to cover gap is to drop the car. You could run grossly oversized tires, but there are too many other problems with that.
If you can, take those tires back and get the proper size. The stock 215/55-17 is pretty wimpy, but a 235/50-17 not only looks much better, it also matches the stock diameter of 26.3".
yes that's why i asked and pointed it out..Not Good for awd, either get 2 new ones for the front or put the stock size back on the rear...ASAP

No worries!
