Used G35(2006) - noise coming during initial acceleration

Hello,
I recently joined the Infinity club after buying a G35 auto trans sedan ...
I found this forum on google with some good information on maintaining the Infiniti machine...
I don't know if any of you are familiar with the below issue...
Yesterday, I noticed a noise coming out from front side of the car. This kind of noise is only coming up every time when I drive a very small distance (<0.1mi) from the parking position. Later on, there is no problem.
Its like a clanking or a bit grinding kind of noise...Did anyone of you experience it?
Kindly help this new Infiniti driver with your inputs...Have a good weekend guys..

Thanks,
Kris

Sounds like ABS test, I think it kicks in around 9 MPH and only does once per startup.

It's normal.

is it more of a metal CLANK sound?

Cause the ABS test sounds more like the car farting to me thank a clanking sound.

It sounds like those spring door stops when you bend them back and let them go.

If you time it right and hit the brakes when the abs test activates....you feel and hear a loud buzzing in the pedal like an abs stop.

I own a 2006 G35 sedan with 55k on it, and I can reproduce what you're hearing, It's definately an ABS test as it sounds EXACTLY like what happens when you start slipping on snow and the ABS goes all out(yay michigan!). I wouldn't worry if it sounds like that, now if its a tinny noise, or a clicking noise, id stop by the dealer, most of the time they're helpful and don't charge for little things(Infiniti of Troy ROCKS).

Good job guys. My car sounds like it's running over a grate complete with vibration and everything.

It's definitely normal and a good thing to hear. If I ever don't hear it I'll start to worry.

noise

Thanks all for your inputs....it really relieved my fear that I overlooked this noise while buying it ...
Yes yes, it sounded like a spring door stops bent and let them go...

I will follow your advise and continue driving it...
Its wonderful to have such a G35 community

thanks again...

Regards,
Kris

One thing that I've noticed is that the noise get a little more prominent when the pads get a little thinner. I almost don't even notice it with new pads.

I have the same noise from my 06 G35 Sedan. I purchased my car used and when I heard this noise it freaked me out as well. The dealership did say there was a fix for this, but told me it really isn't worth paying for it because its a normal thing the car does.

I wonder what the "fix" is. I kinda like knowing my ABS checks itself every time I start the car.
