GEN 3 intake on 05 sedan

i had this idea to get a custom made intake for the 1st gen sedan like the one stillen makes for the 2nd gen.

i have a friend who owns a garage and said it will be a simple job. basically what am aiming is to keep the Z tube (since it doenst heat up) and just extend the intake pipe all the way behind the grill with an after market air filter.

i searhed here and there and found nothing on this topic. so my questions are,
has anyone tried this? what where the results?
would i have clearence issues?
worth it or not?
and which air filter do you guys recomend RC2/K&N/JWT pop charger?

Sounds good an I am assuming you realize you can only do 1 filter not 2. I would go with a dry filter like AEM so you don't have to oil it. The stock filter is pretty efficient, but this has not been tried (as far as I know) with first gen so who knows, maybe it is the best design. You might even be able to buy an AEM cai and turn it sideways to get this result.

well i know i can only do 1 intake, but and i wont be using stock filter since its going to be exactly like the one in the picture above but 1 intake.

i need the best filter out there since the intake is going to be beind the grill so more dust, and i live in Dubai and at times it gets pretty dusty

That would be a cool and different setup. Dry filter is a good idea, I think Amsoil makes one as well as AEM.
