Think I can get a 6mt for around 10k?
Think I can get a 6mt for around 10k?
I just sold my 01 Lexus GS430 and am in the market for a slightly less expensive car. The cars I've had in my past are Integra gsr, Subaru WRX, and Lexus gs430. I'm looking to sell my daily driver gsr and just have one car while throwing some money in the bank.
The problems I had with the GS430 was of course the fun factor was lacking. I loved the luxury and quietness but I definitely missed driving manual and having a car I could toss around a little. Another problem I had was the car was lowered and the upper control arms would knock the inner fender wells. Hopefully the G35 doesn't have that problem.
I haven't been looking into g35 manuals again until today and am just wondering if its likely for me to find one for around 10k? What kind of problems should I look out for? If anyone knows of anyone selling one in the bay area, ca, please let me know. Maybe I can join the community soon!

The only major problem was the oil consumption with the 05-06 rev up engine (only found on manual trans). So if you stick with an 03-04 manual you should be fine. For your price range I would imagine you will be looking at a high mileage car. My 05 auto has 104k on it with only routine maintenance (single owner). I have a leaky spark plug tube and have had it since just after warranty expired (just my luck), but it hasn't hurt performance and the car runs great. It is an expensive fix ($300 just for parts) so I will keep it that way until I absolutely have to fix it. Since you drove a Lexus you are used to expensive oem replacement parts so the cost of parts for this should be no surprise. Not Mercedes/BMW expensive, but not Honda Civic cheap either. It is a great car and fun to drive and you can get mechanical parts from the 350z to enhance looks/performance for a low price.
Yeah. You can find an 03 or maybe 04 6mt for that.
I almost bought one a year ago, but it sold too quick, so I settled for a 03 AT that I got for 8700+Tax
They definitely pop up, just might have to look for a while, be willing to drive, and jump on it when you find a good deal.

Not around my neck of the woods you wont. I haven't seen any G35 coupes in 6MT for under 15000 and that's with high mileage and in crappy condition. I looked at one last year, manual in perfect condition with 43K and it was 21000.
Yeah.... so this is the sedan section......
