I believe that they total it if it exceeds 80% of the value so it leaves room for unforseen damage. I know they did on my truck when the estimate came back at $21k to fix.

you should sue for pain and suffering.. i would def go to a chiropractor.. get yourself looked at... i have heard of horror stories of people that never got looked at and months later they were in pain.

I agree about getting checked out. Start with a doctor and if need be he can give you a referal for further help (such as physical thereapy) a chiropractor is only going to adjust your back and do some light tissue work, it will help and feel better but most likely just for a day or two. The "pain and suffering" will come if justified.

I got into an accident last November. I went to the doctors from the accident scene. He checked me out, gave me some pain meds and muscle relaxers and sent me on my way. A week later I started seeing a chiropractor and it helped my back, but it was only temporary. Two more visits to the doctor and two visits to a spine specialist (while continuing chiropractic care) I got a referal for physical therapy (after the first visit to the spine doc). Thats when I obtained an attorney..fast forward to today. I have quit seeing the chiropractor and I hope this thursday will be one of my last visits to Physical therapy.
Im only at about 80% of what I used to be. Most of the time im ok, but when my back says no more, I have no other choice but to stop. Ihope to be at 90% + by this time next year.

So yes getting checked out is a must.

You really should see a doctor though. I thought my neck was just a little stiff after on of my accidents, Turns out I had a mild sprain.

 

I would be very careful with the chiropractor you choose and what you allow him to do. I have heard some horror stories from friends, family, etc. You def. want to see a doc first to make sure its not nerve-related, since chiropractors typically dont have the education to deal with that issue.

Even if its minor soreness it can lead to or be something major.
I thought a had a pulled muscle so slight strain....9+ months later im still dealing with issues related to the accident. Protect you back.

 

I heard back from insurance today. They declared it totaled. Still waiting to hear back on a value though - I will not have that until Monday they said.

 

be careful with how they value your car, i know for one my insurance didnt want to value my old car that was totaled by KBB. they wanted to give me "market value" also make sure to mention any extras you just recently bought.. i.e belts, tires, rims, etc this will more than likely increase your payout.

i mentioned all that to my insurance company and they went halfs with me so i got more.. ended up getting right at KBB.
