Try rubbing compound or toothpaste. I used rubbing compound on mine and it turned out just fine. I heard toothpaste has the same results, but it is a bit more messy.

^I didn't get JACK from toothpaste.

PlastX worked OK but the results took a while to achieve, and were still not as good as the results with the 3M kit.
The last step on the 3M is to put what they call a "Finishing compound" or some-such on, but it's really just a package of rubbing compound is all it is.

PlastX plus 3 coats of wax works for me. I do it every three months to stay on top of things. As a result I still have crystal clear lenses.

Gonna do it today in fact

I did the 3M restorer thing recently. For my money (and time) just doing some very quick applications of PlastX is the way to go. I tried the 3M thing just because I picked the kit up dirt cheap somewhere. Seems to me that would be a one-time thing to do, sanding down lenses is just not something you should have to do repeatedly.

The lenses look no better than after PlastX. The only possible difference is durability, but using PlastX just isn't very hard at all and very quick.

I also just put Klasse AIO and glaze on my car, including headlights - and I think that might help with durability more than anything.

And just a moment to plug the Klasse products. I have an 03.5 sedan and every single time I wash the car it looks brand new, the shine is amazing and the durability is fantastic. No one believes how old my car is and when I tell them every person asks what I use on it. The product is not cheap but you put so little on per application (2 oz) it lasts a very long time.

Yes, dear. Does that work better for you?

Ok so no oven cleaner or toothpaste. Use the 3M kit once then just use the Platicx stiff every week or so to stay on top of things. Also I can buy some Klasse AIO and use 2oz for the whole car. I think I got it all.
