Random Little Question Thread

I'm making this thread so people can ask a random little question without making a totally new thread for that small question that doesn't need a whole thread. Obviously i had to break the ice on this new forum 'tool' (as i am going to put it) and or/idea and make a thread for my random little question. Reply if you want, ask questions if you got 'em!

Anyways, my question is, i recently replaced the bracket in my door because the **** started popping all the way down the road. An annoying pop that went away when i held the top of the handle with my hand. I originally replaced the bracket because some where down the line, it got bored out. Seemed to happen after i hit that MAJOR rattle making pot hole down in Jacksonville florida that shook me and my car to bits.

It has been popping ever since.

Replaced bracket, and it still pops. I added felt all around it to see if that would help and it didn't. I am almost thinking that it could be happening in between where the leather armrest 'handle' thing at the top is joining with the plastic door panel (because those aren't one piece, correct?) and if so, is there any way to get under there to add some felt? Does anyone else even have an annoying pop that CANNOT be drowned out? It honestly drives me so far up the wall that i am having a hard time breathing rom the altitude. I am about ready to just dynomat the crap out of the door.

Any suggestions for 'pop' removal would be appreciated.

I sent him the series and he is only posting the work safe ones.

InfinitG5 07-27-2010 05:19 PM

I'll actually ask a car related question lol.

I'm currently stock suspension wise. I've been thinking about what drop/rims to run. If I run oem coupe 18's (7 spoke) with 350z s techs & new shocks do y'all think I would rub or would it depend on the tire? I'm kind of a noob with suspension (offsets and what not). I know a little, but i've been reading a lot trying to learn as much as possible before I put my suspension together. I wanna get it right the first time. Thanks for any help.

P.S. I can't afford coils, so yeah :D

darnelled 07-27-2010 05:39 PM

Wannabe,

I have the same noise in my driver's side door. I'm a little leary of pulling the door apart to search out the cause. Hopefully someone here has fixed it and will respond.

i have a small little question to this little thread, while driving i hear a noise somewhere in the back passenger side seat. it sounds like a bag rubbing on something...

I honestly think its the handle pulling away from the actual panel and its rubbing. I dont know what else it could be. I have pulled that panel off 3 times now in search of what it could be. I am bad at getting rid of rattles and pops though...

Sounds like the rear window bolts. I need to get those too. Mine is rattling like a mofo when i go in and out of the driveway. I roll the windows down a crack though, and they stop. Apparently that means its the window bolts.

socialconflicts 07-27-2010 06:38 PM

^i will need to test that out

thescreensavers 07-27-2010 06:42 PM

^ Yep thats the window bolts, once you apply some tourqe to them they stop making then noise. With the new bolts the noise is still there sometimes but not all the time now

I think its b/c I did not tighten them enough, I have to go back and use my wrench instead. also remember to use blue loctite

G35Papa 07-27-2010 06:46 PM

Put some thread lock on them while you're at it

Wannabe6MT 07-27-2010 06:48 PM

^Have you done that fix?

socialconflicts 07-27-2010 06:52 PM

anyone have the link to a DIY on the window bolt.

thescreensavers 07-27-2010 06:53 PM

I swear I wrote in my post about loctite lol. Guess it did not show up, Blue Loctite is what you needs.

I did put some on, but I guess with being a black car in the Florida sun they got loose lol, I need to go check it out. After my finals and stuff I need to do a few things.

How the hell do yo get these snaps, back into the door panel if they completed separated ? with a C Clamp or something?

G35Papa 07-27-2010 06:57 PM

CG4DR 07-27-2010 09:04 PM

can you get different springs for coilovers to make them lower?

iTzTeddy 07-27-2010 09:46 PM

Where can you pick up the black rubber door trimmings? Mine is starting to deteriorate

yes most manufactures offer different spring rates should be able to contact them and ask for softer/stiffer spring rate

do you guys think yellow fog lights are rice or look good? I saw a coupe here locally with yellow fogs and i liked it, dont know who it was though

InfinitG5 07-28-2010 12:05 AM

^^ I think it looks nice. Especially if you have some sort of hid's, like 8k, they contrast each other very well.

3truman 07-28-2010 12:08 AM

yeah im pretty sure that coupe had those too, it just caught me off guard when it turned torward me and i was like wtf-lights?

I ahve 6k lows and 3k fogs and i absolutley love it. End of the day i run my driving lights, then once it gets a little darker 6 or 7pm, then the HID lows come on, then once its 10pm or later and the sun is completley down, then the fogs go on.

I love my headlights even though they are projectors.

The X Factor 07-28-2010 12:41 AM

My back license plate is stuck in. The bolts unscrew, but just spin and never come out, and I can't pull them out. I figure the clips in the back are stripped (or messed up in some way). I figure I'll just run down to the dealer and get new clips and bolts then cut out the old bolts, but is there a more simple fix before I do?

NFSP G35 07-28-2010 08:21 AM

Good thread. I'll have to read it all tonight after work, running late now :o

Wannabe6MT 07-28-2010 09:02 AM

I made the thread. It has to be good.

drkay 07-28-2010 11:15 AM

i just changed the oil with German castrol syntec 0w-30 with an M45 oil filter. . .right now it's 28 degrees and in the winter some days it can go down to -15 C. my question is that 0W means the oil is thinner that 5W before it reaches normal operating temp. . .is that a problem in the winter? or even now in the summer? do i really need to let the car warm up a little before a drive?

That's what I'm doing after I lower it next week, looks awesome

iTzTeddy 07-28-2010 05:27 PM

Are the fogs stock? I can't remember how stock fogs look like anymore, I know they are a little yellow lol.

socialconflicts 07-28-2010 05:30 PM

no stock fogs arent yellow. they look about white but give out a yellowish color on the road.
