I know most older Ford Explorers did this. I had a 01 Explorer Sport and it was always leaning to one side slightly. They dealer basically told me it's because the majority of the gas tank is on that side and wore out the springs over time. I never questioned it after that, mostly because I didn't care. But I highly doubt its the same deal with your car...

So... does anyone actually know anything or is everyone here going to just jibber-jabber all day?

That1guy--- I suppose you'd like that to be me wearing a thong bikini next to my car!

Men!

So this is normal then, or is it a symptom of something else (e.g., spring fatigue on one side b/c that the only side used)?
yes please

Gas tank is dispersed evenly, no half *** only on one side crap lol.

Springs sag over time. They don't sag evenly unless all 4 springs are made from the same batch of steel and heat treated in the same batch. As a result, one side might settle more than the other.

Could also be mechanical issues like failing bushings, isolators, etc that cause the change in height.

Either live with it, or change your springs, or post pics of yourself...

It should be level all the way around.

If your sway bars are not even it might account for some oddity between L & R?

This is true. My wife's '02 Explorer has a big of a gangster lean going on. I read that it was because they put the battery and gas tank on the same side as the driver so that spring wears out first.

As far as the G being uneven, I've heard this about several cars on this site. Mine seems to be slightly off too, but my driveway isn't perfectly level. Even a very slight grade could cause a difference in height from side to side. As others have said, springs, bushings, and alignment could also contribute to it.

No, the bikini wouldn't have anything to do with reference. But if thats how you roll....

Something you can check is to make sure all the springs are seated correctly and you might want to have the dealer look at the camber settings or have it re-aligned as this could throw off the ride height.

If you do find that the springs are sagging and your the original owner you can contact the company and see what they can do for you on warranty. You might have to purchase another set at a discounted rate then send these back for a refund. Unless you can take them off the car and send them back for testing.

Are you the original owner of the car? If not, it could be that the car has been in a little bit of an accident which can throw the suspension geometry off just enough to notice a difference. Lets just hope thats not the case though.
