AC Pipe Leaking! Options?! Help!!

I have a 2004 g35 sedan, it's 104 degrees in Dallas and my ac stopped blowing cold air. Apparently my K&N Intake tube rubbed a leak into the ac pipe. Spent $60 and three hours trying to get an expert aluminum welder to fix the leak, but he had to cut about five inches off the pipe, but still couldn't get the weld to hold. How much will it cost me to get a new pipe? Where can I get it cheap?
Is it a real pain to replace, I think it goes all the way around the car,and then underneath?
Have been searching online, but cannot find any vendor selling the ac line...

I've searched the forum, and read a post somewhere about fixing a leak with a couple sort of coupling. Is this a good idea?

Thanks!!

i never bought one for the G but most cases the new line is about $100 and simple to get to. You need a open ended wrench and that is all. Vendors dont sell AC lines, only dealerships because there is no money in stocking them.

You need the line and a full AC evac and recharge dealership will run you $100-150. Smaller shops will run you $50-80 for the recharge.

here is one for a 350z

both lines if you click on them are $90-130

its too late now but if you started with just it rubbing i would of JB welded it back and then replace if it didn't work. Dealership should want about $400 for everything done and you should be on your way in 2-3 hours if you wanted to do that route.

Ok, thanks! Picked one up at the dealership for $60. Getting someone to throw it in for $20. This was an easy fix!! Wish they were all like this...

You need to pull a vacuum on the system before you recharge. You need a very good vacuum pump capable of pulling a vacuum down beyond 29 inches Hg. Then you recharge. I recommend having a shop pull and recharge. It will cost a few hundred, but the risk of leaving moisture in the system could cost you much more when the compressor fails due to moisture.
