14 even at almost 101 MPH

On my first run of the night I clocked off a 2.1 60 Ft time and a 14.008 @ 100.5+ MPH...the next 4 runs were all 14.1s at over 100 as well. I beat everything I raced. Mustang GT 5 Spd, Subaru WRX Auto, No2 Civic, a VR6 Jetta and finally a 3.5SE Auto Altima. The closest was the Civic with the No2...he ran a 14.2 at 100.

Couple notes:

I finally figured out how to do a burnout...a sick burnout...with the Drag Radials I was literally making my car disappear...it was quite a show lemme tell ya...the girl starting my lane was LHAO! ;-) The bad thing is unless I hook up a line lock (which after looking at the Anti Lock Control unit my brake and exhaust guy told me it would not be worth the risk of screwing with the braking system) the car still retards take off power when you power brake and the car just won't take off like a bat out of hell...if I had a 6 spd that I could launch hard I would be running 13.7 right now I think. The drag radials are awesome...I just wish the car would launch with *****.

Anyway...it was 57 F out all night...I am hoping over the next 3 weeks (b/f the track closes) it will get into the 30s or 40s and 13s will show up on a time slip.

The real sad part is that knowing the track averages your speed b/t beams at the last 60 feet and I know I really ran a 13.8-9, but hey, until it shows up on a slip I always have my GTECH times.

PS...there was a Sierra Denali up there with a CAI, full header back exhaust, an UD Crank Pulley, and some timing mods running a 14.5 at 91...lol...I have a modded Z71 that I converted into a Denali, minus the 6.0 Vortec...I still have the 5.3...but with similar mods...I knew the truck was fast, but 14.5 is simply nuts for a pickup truck with no FI or No2.

Yeah, the cold temps are really loved by this car...it eats up the cold air and spits out lower and lower times! ;-)

By the way, I missed 13.999 by this much...take your finger and tap the table in front of you twice as fast as you can...then multiply that by 13.75 times and that's how close I was...literally a tail wind away.

How did you do the burn out with VDC? Because VDC doesn't completely turn off unless you pull the fuse which I assume you did?

Re: 14 even at almost 101 MPH

i ran a 14.29 last time i was at the track @ 99.45 mph after the car sat for an hour and a half, with only a injen intake, stillen duel exhast, and the technosquare ecu. i just put the plenum on, im hopeing to hit the 13's this week at the track. Does Anyone Realistically Think I Can Do It???

Re: 14 even at almost 101 MPH

I ran a 14.21 at 98+ in April in the 70s with just a half *** CAI...but then it took a lot of factors to get down to 14.00 at over 100...My car is an Auto, you don't mention what yours is, but these cars love the cold air. Any 6 spds near sea level with the mods I have should be in the 13's period so you definitely have a good shot. Good Luck.

Re: 14 even at almost 101 MPH

My buddy and I had wired a toggle switch via MY350Z.com's instructions in that looks 100% OEM, but I never realized what to do until last weekend when I practiced in our Cul De Sac. I was in Manual Mode 1 and I just jabbed the gas then instantly got on the Brakes...I literally made the other car next to me disappear in smoke...it was the nuts...LMAO...but as I mentioned...it was all for show b/c the car, even in this state, retards something off the line when you brake torque it and I cannot get anything better than a 2.15 60' time and that's launching at like 1500...all my other 60' times were low 2.2s...and all 14.1s...

If this car would let you brake torque I could launch at 3500, rip a 1.8-1.9 60' time and run 13.6 to 13.7 all night long in a 4 door family sport sedan...with nothing crazy for mods...how sick would that be...but alas...all pipe dreams for now.

Re: 14 even at almost 101 MPH

Boss i noticed that too, i use to power break, break torque or launch at like 1000k rpm LOL, then i moved it up to 2k and it seems like it bogs off the line so much more, but thatd also with my heavier 19's, before i had lighter wheels and it wasnt like that, and at 2k i can burn out my tires at 2k with ease!! We are all auto sedans and running fast times, i love it!! I dont have my plenum on yet and im runnin like a 14.1 and mid to low 5's and beating fast cars, man i love it but sometime it just isnt enough, ill say it again, i cant wait to put stock wheels back on, it will be a night and day between acceleration WOW!!!!

Re: 14 even at almost 101 MPH

lower on the launch...b/c as I have stated b/f the G35, in automatic form, seems to retard power if you brake torque the engine...even wiht the TCS and VDC 100% disabled...it's either something in the torque converter or it's embedded in the ECU. I am betting both maybe, but either way, if you launch at a higher RPM you ironically launch with more bog...try it and watch your 60' times go to hell.

Re: 14 even at almost 101 MPH

Clint...lol...I was wasn't I...I just couldn't...and still can't tell you to this day how I have felt any mod in the butt dyno at all. I never could tell the grounding gear was working...or that the plenum and the pulley and the ECU were all giving me extra oomph...it was so frustrating until...I realized in MM that the ECU was not still pulling like a **** till 7 Grand and that there was no loss of power up top...then when I got the Coupe Mid Pipe the sounds that were there at the lower RPM were just grin inducing without being loud...I am still dying to hear what a Y-Pipe sounds like b/c I am sure with one of those 13's in cold weather would be even easier, but I would need to hear it.

Bottom line...with about $2000 of installed mods these cars pull about 300 ponies at the crank...and considering how fast that makes them vs. how much they weigh...I am very, very impressed and very, very, very happy.

Rock On!

Re: 14 even at almost 101 MPH

Nice times! I predict a 13 sec slip very soon. Do you have any pics of the drag radials on the car?

Thanks
