Small Emergency. My result in violence against dealership. LOL

Tinkerbell was in the shop for the last 2.5 weeks or so.

Orginal complaint: 3rd gear felt sluggish
Orignal diagnosis: Reflash ECU due to TSB

car ran fine for 2 days then idle was all over the place (from 200 to 1400ish)
and it jerked into gear and sounded like tranny was going to fall out.
took her back to Infiniti of Annapolis.

2nd complaint: tranny feels like its going to fall out and car feels like it is going to stall due to low idle.
2nd diagnosis: new transmission and air filters. Then they gave me some bullcrap about how they cant get an accurate fuel to air ratio reading because of my mods. Really???? a year and half of having the mods and they never gave me an issue until you reflashed the ECU. Noticed on the paper they said my complaint was low idle while AC was on. Ummm no, low idle all the time.

3rd complaint: car ran fine, I picked it up around 130pm and drove her home.
Drove to work at midnight with no issues.
Went on lunch and ran home to get my phone. Started her back up and it idles at 200 and then stalls. Three times.

So I started her, revved her up and took off without letting her warm up. Went to get food. Same thing happened. Went to bank on the way back to work and left her on. Could hear the idle going ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Im pissed. They said in order for me to get an accurate diagnosis I need to put the OEM parts back on. I call BS because I DID NOT have this issue until AFTER they reflashed the ECU.

Does anyone have any advice 1. on how to deal with them without violence and 2. could my exhaust mods which have never given me issues, cause the idle to act crazy.

Exhaust mods will really only make your car louder, maybe put a bit like a built big or small block V8. Revs all over the place by itself means you either have a vacuum leak or it's the throttle body sensor tripping out and it either needs to be replaced or you need to reset the ECU. It's more likely the throttle body sensor.

yeah Im thinking when they reflashed the ECU it messed something up.
Im going to call tomorrow and ask them to either reflash it again correctly and check the throttle body which I had assumed they would have looked at already.

Just to add a little info to my post, I didn't notice you said 200 to 1400-ish. When I had a problem with the throttle body, the revs were literally all over the place. If I was in gear, the car would accelerate and hit the limiter. But that might be because my car is a manual and a torque converter might change how that affects the car

Thanks. I wouldnt be so pissed if this had happened before they touched it. I feel that now they are trying to pass of my exhaust mods as the issue but have never heard of mods like that causing the car to idle or stall.

I am at the point now that they are trying to take advantage of me because I am female, the tech (one known to be the best there for modded cars) came out and was basically speaking slow like well Ms Wright there is something called air to fuel ratio and we cant get an accurate reading.

I wanted to be like yeah thats funny

I wouldnt disclose that you had it dyno'd... who knows how they could interpret that. At the very least they could void any warranty for "excessive abuse"

Yeah, exhaust mods are not the cause...well, not unless you have a HUGE exhaust leak. That excuse wouldn't fly with me.

I wouldn't reveal you had the car dynoed though. But the dyno uses a different sensor for it's A/F ratio, they are going by the cars onboard o2's. Either way, there's another reason for your issues

I also am expecting that it I had a huge enough exhaust leak to cause this idle issue, I would either hear it or smell it..... nothing.

LOL^ true but that happened a long time ago. My issue is that my car was working fine, except for 3rd gear feeling a little sluggish, until they reflashed the ECU and 3 days after that I need a new tranny and the idle is all over. Wasnt happening before they touched it so obviously they did something to it.

So today got a call from the dealership asking about my experience and was I happy with them. I told them no I was very upset about the issue and they had the service manager call me back.

I understand I have mods. They have known about them since I got them. My main issue is that I took the car in for one reason and in the 3 weeks since 2 other major issues came up which were not there before they touched it and that happened within a day of them messing with it.

The service manager said they would drive a loaner to me and take my car back to the dealership. I told them that was ok, I would drive there after work today as I was sleeping and needed to rest.

I started my car last night and now it is idling high (around 2k).

I am going to keep my composure but at the same time it is seeming to take the "girl verus mechanic" issue.

it could be your cat converter. My crx drops way way below 500rpm and bogs and stalls even if i barely (i mean, BARELY) tap the gas pedal and it stalls. Your cat could be clogged.

might not be right, but its just a suggestion.

so I spoke with someone who actually broke it down for me. I need either O2 simulators or put OEM cats back on so the car and re-learn the idle. When they reflashed the ECU the car is trying to re-learn everything but wth the HFCs on it, it cant get a proper reading

If that's really the case, I'd say screw the dealer and take the plunge to get Osiris...
