Post Wow Now i see why they call it the Stealership

Long story short my hella custom work i did to my infiniti Had to come off so i could Stealership it to figure out the Overheating problems . After a long 3 days of uninstalling . I took it down to Kearny Mesa Infiniti. All in all Im amazed to find out its the age old Thermostat going out and the plenum cracked under pressure. lol. I was quoted so ridiculously high that now i too consider the dealer as a rip off. 879 for 2 parts installed. Heres the kicker. The thermo is 42 bucks and the Plenum top is 109 Installation is like 40+50. Where did they get the extra 400 dollars i dont know . But after learning About the cost i will never trust a dealer. Im talkin 879 vs 420 . Why i dont know ..... I told them on the phone i have dealer license and im a shop and they still tried to rape me . Wonder what a normal bystander would pay

i do my oil changes @ keanry mesa infiniti, i bought my car from there too. i got it for a decent price. i have never been pushed to get a service or replace parts, not saying they are cheap. no dealership is cheap just my experience hasnt been bad. i know they didnt check my knocking problem because i had 'aftermarket suspension' which is the 350z. besides that. its ok so far.

if you need an install contact grant u can find him in the san diego forums, he does the work at a very reasonable price

Im sure labor is more than 40-50 bucks considering most dealers are like 80-100 an hour... your taking off the top of your motor, aren't you? lol thats a little different than an oil change.

yup 80-100 an hour sounds about right.. Which sucks cause the part never does cost a lot its always the 3-4 hours they spend putting the new part on that makes your bill go up.

Infiniti labor rates are higher because their tech's require another level of certification. Take it to Nissan. Probably half the cost.

They charge around a $100 per hour on labor.

I stopped going to Kearny Mesa Infiniti. They wouldn't do a oil consumption test, or any other warranty work. They said that if I didn't have ALL maintenance records from INFINITI itself, that they would NOT honor the TSB. I don't have all the records since my car was bought used AND stated that they would not honor oil consumption TSB's on "modded" cars. BS.

I then went straight to Riverside Inifniti and they replaced my engine with almost no hassle...twice WITH all my mods including my illegal test pipes. No records had to be shown and they gave a G37 to play with. Out the door in no time, and took the G37 rental to NorCal.
