Is it easy to take out the plastic that covers theintake
Except then you'll see the ugly intake. And want to polish it. And get a CAI. And polish the throttle body. And add a strut bar. And change out the fasteners. And do a wire tuck...
Take my advice....LEAVE IT ON!!! haha! j/k...

Same, i had it off but it looks like crap.
I do think it traps a SMALL amount of heat in the engine, that was the reason why i took it off but i hated how dirty it was and not in the mood to polish anything.

They do trap heat, and dirt which makes it worse.
I had a mark 8 with a similar cover. After 80k, I took the cover off and cleaned the he'll out of the engine removing a lot of trapped dirt and grime.....the engine actually ran a little cooler after that.

Take it off and see, it only takes a minute. Then look at someone like Candlestick Park's underhood and see how beautiful it can be.

Sorry but you won't get any of this from an intake unless you tune your car and that's still debatable.. The only benefit you'll see is a louder sound if you go with an open filter style.
