swaybar link problem

Has anyone have swaybar link replaced ?
When I go over bumps, left rear side makes noise. The dealer didn't test drive. The first time they said they re-toruqed swaybar. It didn't solve the problem. The second time they "claimed" they heard the noise, and they order left side swaybar link for me...
Just wondering if anybody else has that replaced ?

Re: swaybar link problem

The dealer thought the sound coming from the right trunk was a loose spare tire, and claimed they tightened it. Driving off the lot I heard the knocking sound then took a ride with the tech supervisor. They ordered the right stabilizer link and replaced it the following week under warranty. They suggested it was defective from the factory and became more obvious with time. I had 16K miles at the time. 2004 G35X

Re: swaybar link problem

I have been hearing this faint "clunk" from my rear suspension for some time. When I enter or exit driveways, encounter small variation s in road surface etc. It sounds like something is loose, and I suspected the sway bar links.

Question, did having the sway bar links replaced eliminate the noise?

Re: swaybar link problem

The dealer changed the "connecting rod" and it didn't help in my case.. Maybe my case is a little different from yours. It has a "popping" sound from the rear suspension area when the rear wheel goes over certain bumps. And I'm sure it is not tire noise.

Re: swaybar link problem

I just crawled under my Sedan and pulled back and forth on the rear anti-sway bar links at the bar ens and "clunk, clunk"- the exact noise I hear when going over bumps, driveways, etc. I tried to tighten the link bolt, but it was already very tight. So, it appears the links may be worn out- after only 24k miles. I am taking the car in next week and will post the results after Thanksgiving.

Re: swaybar link problem

Yes I have the same clunk sound when i replaced mine with the nismo sways and the dealer claimed to have heard nothing either. I am gonna switch back to the stock ways and take it back.

Will:

So, are you using the stock links with the Nismo sway bars? Have you confirmed like I have that the clunk is coming from the links?

Re: swaybar link problem

mfung:

It sounds like the dealer only replaced one link on one side. That does not seem too smart on their part. It appears both links make the noise on mine, so they should be replaced in pairs. You may have one side that is now "quiet" but the other side is noisy.

It is very easy to tell if the links "clunk" by crawling under the rear of the car and tugging on the swar bar ends where they connect to the links (or as Nissan calls them "connecting rods").

Re: swaybar link problem

since I complained about noise from driver side, the dealer just changed the driver side's rod...

Can you tell me which part I should inspect ??
Thanks

Re: swaybar link problem

I have had that noise for a while now too. Since about 23-24k miles. I believe it is the swaybar endlinks as well, but have not had time to take it back yet.

Re: swaybar link problem

TallG,

They only replaced my right one, which did eliminate the noise. I have not yet crawled under to check for myself. Totally stock.

Just verifying......so the rear clunking noise coming from the rear is the sway bar end links right? I've been all over the forum trying to figure it out because I have the same problem as described and this seems like the most promising solution. I guess I'll tug on the bar tomorrow to see if it makes the noise.
