*Coupe* Seat Installed

I finished installing a Premium Leather Seat (driver side) from the Coupe. It slipped right in with no apparent issues. Control modules also plugged right in. The only thing I lost in the process was the power recline (now manual) and the memory seat function. I might try transplanting the sedan seat control module over and see if the memory feature can be restored, but that's really a low priority agenda.

I did get a chance to go out for a quick spin. Wow, the sedan seat really sucked in comparison! This puppy acutally holds during a high lateral G turn. It's no race bucket, but is leagues ahead of the sedan stockers. Equally important is I now sit at least an inch lower, making it possible for me (~ 6'0") to sit up straight when wearing a helmet at the track.

Passenger side will go in later this week.

Re: *Coupe* Seat Installed

Where did you get the seat from? Did you salvage it from a wrecked coupe, or did you buy it new?

Re: *Coupe* Seat Installed

I was very fortunate to have inherited them from a good friend who abandoned them (for now at least) in favor of a set of kick **** Sparco seats. I almost took the same route myself, but thought ... hmmm, why not? So the cost is only some elbow grease.

Salvage from a wrecked coupe would be your best bet, as they are not cheap from the dealer brand new. You might as well get a set of cool Sparco seats for possibly less. Otherwise, start knocking on coupe people's door, whom may have upgraded to other seats.

The 350Z seats coule be equally nice, but I was told the mounting point is a bit different, so there goes that idea.

Good Luck,

Re: *Coupe* Seat Installed

That is awesome...the coupe's seats are nite and day from the sedan's.
Why is it manual recline and no memory now? Is it b/c your coupe seat doesn't come with them? Also, just curious, is the side airbags control by the modules too?

Clint, you're fortunate that you were able to get the seat at no cost! I was going to say that I thought those seats were expensive if you had to buy them new. I too would love to see some pictures if you get a chance.

The coupe seats do not come with motorized recline, nor memory buttons. Airbag functionality should not have been altered, since all the cables plugged right into where they're suppose to go. No SRS light either.

I'll try to take a pic when I get a chance. Visually, it's not a significant alteration, as it is still black with Infiniti logo stitching on it. An outsider would easily assume they were standard equipments.

Re: *Coupe* Seat Installed

Did you use the coupe or sedan seat rails?
Do the rails (and seats) look to be the same?

I was this close to ordering a 2005 G35 6MT without a sunroof because of headroom problems, but this may do the trick! To get a 2005 seat in the right color, I suspect I'll have to order it.

Do the coupe & sedan seats look different (side by side), could I replace just 1 and have it look reasonable?

Did you really get an inch more headroom?

Thanks Gary K

Re: *Coupe* Seat Installed

It's a simple drop-in afair. No need to swap rails. The sedan and coupe shares identical floor pan, which is not a big surprise here. Yes, indeed I gained at least an inch ... if not two inches of head room. I currently have just the driver side seat replaced and it doesn't look that odd.

Here is a pic of the Coupe seats installed in Clint's Sedan. Hope you don't mind Clint, I took this the other day at the shoot.

Re: *Coupe* Seat Installed

Ohhh very cool. Thanks Wing!

As you can see, the passenger side seat finally went in as well. It bugged me the passenger was sitting higher than I was ... very annoying off to the corner of the eye.

One of the wiring harness was not plug 'n play ... I had to reroute some cables.

I took some measurements ... it appears the driver side seat was about 2" or so lower than the stockers ....

Re: *Coupe* Seat Installed

I have stock seats and everytime I sit in the passenger seat, i feel so high. I hate that you can't lower the passenger seat. Did the coupe passenger seat eliminate that issue as well?

My girlfriend has a coupe and I love sitting in her seats so much better than mine. If I really had the money though, I would go with BRIDE seats.

It's still a G thang!!
