Interesting mpg gain with rear diff change
Wow Dave, we had almost the same car!
I had a 94 TA 4AT with the same 2.73 (stupid) gear
Hamhead ibird thrush is right though, the LS1 does get much better MPG.
My 00 MT WS6 would get 26 hwy, with 3.42 (or was it 3.73?) gears.
It still did about as good as the G around town too
But yeah, the LT is hella thirsty when it's cold, plus it runs better when there's a little nip in the air so that just makes you floor it more

my bros 04 gto mpg readout could be kept around 30 on the highway if you were really careful...after he did LS6 heads and cam it would only do like 24 though
as with his 2 previous cars (1992 SC300 5 speed and 1990 celica all-trac with ST205 engine and tranny swap) he always seemed to be getting 12 to 14mpg in all those cars..lol
he got fed up and now he has a ninja 250, vibe GT with 194,000 miles and an mr2 spyder(which I love)

!!! My RPM drop goes from around 2500 to 2300 at 70mph. Not really a lot of difference one would imagine, but the overall picture seems to be improved mpg and decreased wear and tear on such things as the injectors, which are pulsed hundreds of thousands of times less in their lifetime with lower rpms.
Thanks for correcting me.
Mea culpa--- you're right-- amazing what an extra "0" will change

I deleted the thread because of the horrible posts made in it. No respect for other peoples beliefs or ideas. Any talk of God gets you trashed here by the dynamic duo, Slaytan212 and Learned Hand. I thought it was a lovely video.
Peace.
