Infiniti or Nissan dealerships anytime lately? I just saw the new Nissan Altima 3.5 SE-R! SE-R?????? Yeah! 260 hp w/ 256 lbs of torque. 18" wheels and a 6 sp tranny. I know it is at the same power as us current G35 sedan owners which really sucks. The rims are neat as well. Price tag $29,000.00.

Cons - It will be able to keep up with us (or beat us) in a straight line.
It is lighter than us as well.

Pros - It wont be able to keep up with us on curvey roads.

It's wrong wheel drive.

It's $29,000.00

Even though I will never buy an ALTIMA, I do have to say that I was impressed by it.

I know that this info has been circulating around but I did get a comfirmation from the local Infiniti dealership that the 05 G35 will be here in Mid November and that the 6sp will have 298 just like the coupe.

 

I saw the new Altima SE-R in a new car magazine, the advertisement was like "something that went horribly right" lol, it looked SICK... And in all of the recent tests of the altima the auto was pulling off 5.9 0-60's and getting some good #'s, pretty impressive! The factt hat its FWD though is a complete turnoff.

It's not bad for the $$...very sporty, VQ engine, 18" wheels, etc., but again it's FWD. I bet it has a good amount of torque steer with all that power! For just a few thousand more, you can get the RWD G35 or the FWD Acura TL...something to think about.

You do bring up a good point...the gap between prices and performance is very thin...
I try to justify the price with the luxury appointments and the "other" things like suspension, etc...
Although I'd love to have more power!

 

I owned a 2002 Altima 3.5SE, great power but the torque steer was terrible. Also, the dash is very sloped and you get terrible reflection in the windshield. Traded for a 03.5 G, love it.
