Motul Synthetic Oil
Anyone know if this oil is any good? My mechanic uses this brand and suggesting 0W40 (top of their line). I believe it is 100% synthetic. He is very knowledgable on performance vehicles and therefore I trust his opinion. However, no one mentioned this brand on the forums. Consensus is Amsoil and Mobil 1 are the best.

Re: Motul Synthetic Oil
Never really heard anything about Motul engine oil but I've heard of their synthetic brake fluid which is really good stuff. Lot's of people use Motul RBF 600 for track use. So it wouldn't surprise me if thier engine oil is good quality stuff as well.

Re: Motul Synthetic Oil
Some other folks who were using synthetic have switched back after using the synthetic. I would do a search and give you the link but I am too lazy. Seems there was something in their oil analysis with synthetic that they didn't like - can't remember for sure....But,
hey, it's your car....do what you want to.

Re: Motul Synthetic Oil
I have been running Castrol Syntec Synthetic blend in my G.
When I took it in for an oil change, my service advisor told me
that is what they used. I don't trust them, so I bring my own
oil. The Castrol Synthetic is a mineral based synthetic from
what I hear, satisfying Infiniti and my own desire to use
synthetic (partial). It is soo much cheaper than the Castrol
Syntec Synthetic. Around $5/quart vs approx $2. With oil
changes at 3750 miles, it still may be overkill. But what the
Hay, It makes me feel better!

Re: Motul Synthetic Oil
I just got the oil changed today (8100 Motul synthetic 0W40). $100 CAN ($80US)!!!! at my local mechanic. It's the last time I will use it regardless of its quality. Amsoil or Mobil 1 (5W30) would have been less than $70 CAN ($55US). My mechanic claims Motul to be better than Amsoil and Mobil 1. I always thought Amsoil was the best. He said I can run 15000 km (9300 miles) before next change. I will not wait that long since car is still under warranty. Anyone else used this oil?
Bottom line, it is too pricey and I will not use it again. I don't drive the car hard therefore any horsepower gains will be unnoticed. I will check if fuel economy improves.
