How NOT to wash your G35.

The wife and I were on our way home last night when we saw a gray G35 coupe fueling up at a gas station. We live in VA and recently had snow, so the roads were a little slushy and covered in road salt. Anyway, the coupe owner grabs the window washer wand next to the pump and starts using it to wash the side of his G35 where the snow/salt had accumulated just past the front wheel. Over and over he slide the wand over his paint, returned the wand to the washer fluid container and then scrubbed away at the grime on his G35s paint. Maybe I'll see his car in the detail section later, wondering why he has major scratches all over his paint. Ugh!

that sounds disgusting and but some people just dont know any better :/

Wannabe6MT 12-24-2010 10:46 AM

blazeplacid 12-24-2010 10:48 AM

to some people a car is a car, just like a washing machine is a washing machine to me

Swivel 12-24-2010 11:15 AM

^ Yup. Still, made me cringe to read that...

i know someone that there little brother washed his car with the sponge that you do the dishes w/ and it was the scratchy side. He was thinking only how to help out his older bro. I think he's like 10 yrs old or around that.

my cousin used one on his altima. its been hazed over ever since. hes keeps saying hes gonna haveit buffed out but its been years now *shakes head*

bluedevils95 12-24-2010 12:25 PM

I don't think you can buff that out? My friend tried that. But he tried himself and not some professional detail guy. But that sponge did a lot off damage to the whole car.

nogoodname 12-24-2010 12:26 PM

A car wash at a gas station is bad enough.... this is even worse...lol

Yes, it can be "buffed" out. Using the right polish/rubbing compound with the right polishing pad will most likely work just fine.

erklep 12-24-2010 12:36 PM

^whs.

Yes, the squeegee, but he was using the side with the sponge.

^Ditto. I literally had that tightness up my spine :icon43:

OKStateG35 12-25-2010 11:24 AM

I've seen an old lady doing this to her Caddy at the gas station before. I couldn't believe my eyes.

On a related note, my neighbor's friend got a brand new black 370Z recently. I watched out the front window in complete shock as she 'washed' the entire thing with one tiny bucket and a rag. She was also wiping it down with microfibers that she kept dropping on the driveway. I should have said something, but it would have been pointless. I hate to see such a nice car be abused.

This just makes me cringe...

COBRA ESQ 12-25-2010 12:38 PM

Everybody has their own technique

Swivel 12-25-2010 02:28 PM

^^ Completely wrong. Proper technique is to leave the kid INside and give him a shower at the same time...

socialconflicts 12-25-2010 05:29 PM

hahahahahaha!!! that was funny

gtoor1990 12-25-2010 08:33 PM

Wow lol dunno what to say about that video either lol

prinny 12-27-2010 07:47 PM

Oh god.. glad I never had to go through that.. Wouldn't be able to stand watching someone do that to their G..

And oh yeah on that video..
Old vid, but epic nevertheless :)

G35xChicago 12-27-2010 08:32 PM

What an idiot. Everyone knows its faster to just drive through a creek. Which, by the looks of the area, is probably just a few feet away.

G35er06 12-27-2010 08:42 PM

Wonder if she washed the engine bay too.

the older brother should have been smarter and gave him a micro fiber sponge or something like that.. so it wont scratch up the car.

bluedevils95 12-27-2010 11:06 PM

The older brother didn't know. His younger brother tried to do this under the radar and wanted to surprise his bigger brother. Well, he got a surprise alright.

dumbg35x 12-28-2010 09:24 PM

ouch... its a surprise alright.

bluedevils95 12-28-2010 11:12 PM

I don't think he cares about his paint anymore. I am pretty sure he wants to re-paint his car after that incident. But i know he don't let his brother wash his car anymore.

6MTKeith 12-29-2010 01:08 AM

Lil different, but I watched my neighbors kid beat the ice off the hood of his Cadi SRX a few days back. Was just goin to town on the hood with an ice scraper. Uhuhuhh...

bluedevils95 01-02-2011 03:55 PM

oh really? You should have got that on camera and shared w/ us.
