Re: SPEEDING

I just got 63 in a 45!! Being from Pennsylvania originally, I still can't get used to the Texas cops being able to get you as they're coming towards you. I'm becoming an expert at Defensive Driving!

Re: SPEEDING

Hmmm... I must admit that I do tend to speed more often ever since I got my G35.

Re: SPEEDING

Let me get this straight. You were going 90 in a 55 and the cop is the FUGGER.

Re: SPEEDING

i have Passport 8500, but the dude didn't use radar. he was pacing me. i was in 70-zone for a good while, driving into San Francisco, but then it turned to 55, and I was just accelerating to get ahead of some traffic, and that's when he got me. i had then just got off the phone with my ex, wasn't paying too much attention to what's behind me... already emailed a lawyer. i am not having this ticket on my record - i had 0 tickets/accidents in years!

and a big WHATEVER to the wuss who tries to moderate my language or my attitude...

Valentine One is the only radar LOCATOR on the market. Once you use the arrows, you'll never want anything else. http://www.valentine1.com/

Re: SPEEDING

this test is 2 and half years old!

I wish there was a newer comparison out since most of these models have changed more or less.

Re: SPEEDING

You were speeding and got a ticket. What exactly do you need a lawyer for? Man up and take responsibility for your actions.

Re: SPEEDING

I did a TON of research between the V1 and the Passport 8500. I ended up buying the Passport for several reasons:

1. Better sensitivity in KA, which is what most of the officers in Colorado use. The 8500 X50 that came out shortly after I bought mine has even better KA sensitivity.

2. Extremely low amount of falses (and the ability to turn off X-band which no one uses here and is the cause of most falses).

3. The ability to buy a laser shifter for it that is integrated into the controls (laser shifters are legal, radar jammers are not).

4. Much better value.

Arrows would be nice, but the Passport RARELY falses, so I slow down regardless when it goes off in KA or K. That makes the arrows (IMO) a moot point.

Re: SPEEDING

As V1 site suggests, buy them both and return the one you like least after 30 days.

Rationalizing that you don't need/want the arrows (to know from where radar is coming) is laughable. Is he ahead, behind, or to the side? Like finding your enemy in combat, situational awareness is critical. Again, the V1 is the only true radar LOCATOR on the market. With V1, you get LOCATION, type, and number of signals. And yes you can filter out many of the security alarms (most in x-band).

Re: SPEEDING

*Don't take this part seriously*
I would beg to differ - spending 100+ extra dollars on a poorer performing radar detector is laughable. But you are obviously a Missouri Tigers fan, so it doesn't surprise me that logic doesn't win out with you (I'm totally joking - I got my undergraduate at Kansas State and my masters at Colorado, so I have to give you a little bit of a hard time :-) ).

*Take this part seriously*
I don't feel that I need to know where the radar is coming from. Because the 8500 falses so infrequently, I will always let off the gas when it signals K or KA.

I will say that if there were multiple officers running radar a mile or so apart, it would be nice to know that one was in front of me, and one behind (after I passed the first one). But I have never seen this scenario in real life, and even if I did, the 8500 would show me that there were two officers running radar, and would continue to alert - I wouldn't accelerate again until after both alerts had died off.

In my opinion the V1 needs the arrows because it falses so frequently - when you are driving by a grocery store you need to know that the K band signal you are seeing is coming from the sensing doors on the front of the store (the V1 would point to the right). If there was an officer also using K band in the area, the arrows would help you know that the doors were causing a false. I would prefer to have a detector that falses much less, and just slow down when it does alert because I trust it. I think you lose faith in a detector that consistantly falses.
