Heater blowing cold air immediately on startup
Heater blowing cold air immediately on startup
I think this is a different problem than the "blowing cold at idle" issue I saw in other threads...
When my wife starts her '05 G35x when it's been sitting outside, the heater starts blowing immediately, rather than waiting until the motor warms up some, like it used to. What would cause this to happen?
Thanks,
Mark

No car will blow hot air if its been sitting. As far as i know most automobile heaters run off the hot coolant from the engine thru the heater core. So the car will have to warm up before it will blow hot air. I dont think cars have a electrical heating element but i could be wrong
If the hvac controls are in manual mode, they will revert to last setting. So if your wife had the heat to 90 on the floor at max, when the car starts, it will show 90, blow to the floor and be on max....but with cold air until the car warms up.
If she has the controls set to AUTO, then the heat will default to the floor but will NOT start blowing until a temp sensor senses the heater core has warmed up enough to blow hot air.
So, when you park the car at night, set the hvac to auto, turn it to 90 and shut off. When you restart, the heat should not come on. If it does, there is an issue.
