So as some of you know I am looking at getting a new car. I looked at this car last weekend and it is pretty clean except I am nervous about this rust.

I would just like some opinions on if it looks easily fixable or if I should stay away.

Thanks, I guess it just bugs me that it's by the strut mounts. Engine, tranny seemed strong, it is a six speed. I didn't notice any slipping but i found the high engagement point to be weird, I thought that was a sign of a clutch going out but I read on here that all of the 6mt have a high engagement point.

All the electrical stuff works, under the car is pretty rust free that I could see apart from the exhaust. I have the records up to 20,000 before it is at now and they are pretty clean, it is a 1 owner car no accidents reported. The inside was pretty clean.

I can vouch that the car was very clean (went on the test drive) but was also a little curious as to this rust around the strut mounts. It was really the only thing we could find for the most part.

Anyone else got a little rust up there?

Looks as though the car sat for a long time or something. If it really bugs you get some new struts/mounts and clean up the rust. Check under that spot in the wheel well and make sure it hasnt started to eat through. IMO it looks like someone sprayed out the engine bay and let the water sit in there.

I wouldn't even really call that rust.

A little sanding and some paint and that will all go away

as stated before . probaly water down the bay. and left the water sitting there.

if everything else checks out . and if you like it go for it ..

but its tough buying a used car,.. because u never really know what can go wrong with it

just go with it ...

hope all works out

My car has a slight hint of something similar to rust in those two spots as well. It's not a problem at all. I could probably get rid of it in on a lazy Sunday.

The car most likely spent a good portion of its life outside. Not a big deal, but that's what happens in parts of the country with real winters.
