Exhaust sound question

ok.... so I had all fluid hanged ( tranny rear diff coolant power steer brake and plugs) I had to come back to the shop after 20 min of driving because they did not top off coolant properly and heater was not working and temp gauge went up once to the top on the red light and quickly claimed back down as i accelerated and it was flowing a little bit on my trip back.,.. after top off and getting air out it is fine now,

my question is this they floored it a couple of times while topping it of and it was making couple of small popping sounds louder than normal at very high RPMs , was wondering if it normal .. just sounded strange to me....

My car makes a similar popping sound when revving at a standstill. I don't need to floor it to get the sound. In my case I'm attributing it to high mileage. Maybe age and miles have resulted in a less restrictive exhaust system?

I do not notice any popping sounds when the car is in motion.
