Clunks...

I'm looking for some help from suspension people. My rear driver's side has clunking coming from it. I can make the clunk by pushing down on my car from the inside of my trunk. It's clearly audible from the wheel well. Otherwise it just clunks along while driving. Only thing it's doing is driving me up a wall. Does it seem like I might have a strut going bad? Anything else it could be? Thanks in advance.

I would first do a visual inspection to make sure everything is fine, during which I would check to make sure everything is secure, and try to locate and single out the cause of the clunking. After an inspection, if I determined the cause to be a bad strut, I'd switch the struts and springs out to a Z suspension.

I'll have to get out and do that. It's finally nice enough outside that I can inspect my car after the thundersnow we had a few days ago. I figure if I do have to change out the suspension anyway, it might as well be time to upgrade. Thanks.

It's coming from a knuckle joint right in front of the spring. I can't tell if it's some ice causing the rubbing, if I need to shoot some WD-40 in it, or if the part is going bad. I'm guessing WD-40 is the most likely. I'll try and get a picture of it later.

I wouldn't use WD-40 for that. It makes a better grease remover than lubricant. Try lithium grease or another grease for suspension parts.
