Compression Rod Let's Solve this

Were all familiar with the Infamous squeek and there's a bunch of threads so let's clean everything up a little please post your fixes if you've found one, also list a replacement bushing that works if possible and most important post if you've called infiniti. On the issue

This has been ongoing for a while and there are countless threads about it. I just cleaned up the suspension really good and grease every moving part I could find and so far it has worked fine for me...no more squeaking/creaking.

so rather than searching yourself, you want other people to do it for you?

My CRs have squeaked/crunched for over 5 years now. It comes and goes with the season and humidity. The bushing aren't torn. I just live with it because the sound occurs maybe once or twice a month.

No I'm not that selfish I figured since there's a million threads for this we can gather all the information to one place I've read the previous stickies and didnt think much of them.

My main point is creating a TSB I'd possible I want to know how many people have called and if they haven't called encourage them to do so. I'd like to have a positive outcome for everyone sorry if that's selfish

there already is a TSB for it. The dealer replaces the rods which comes with new bushings. Some dealers if you are lucky, will replace just the bushings. I just replaced my front drivers side for the 2nd time since it was clunking. It sucks but Infiniti is not going to anything more about it since its considered a wear item. There are aftermarket solutions available too.

VincenzG35 Apr 13, 2011 05:40 PM

Are they charging cause I know TSBs are usually free (well at least for all my Pontiac's they were) lol also what aftermarket parts do you recommend and anyone have a review (people using the aftermarket for a few thousand miles)

Why is this better?

VincenzG35 Apr 14, 2011 09:19 AM

Just for the record the TSB doesn't include 2003 sedans 2004 and up

RADIOGUY21 Apr 14, 2011 12:02 PM

TSBs are covered under warranty for free. Out of warranty you will have to pay. They arent recalls, just documented common issues that can help the dealer or a mechanic diagnose a problem faster. Rarely TSBs turn into recalls, unless the issue is a safety hazard.

the rod itself doesnt go bad, its the bushings that wear. A new entire compression rod from the dealer is like $300, but if you can find someone to replace just the bushings its much less.

whiteline bushings... theres shops that will do the job for like 120..

whiteline bushings go for like 45-66$

VincenzG35 Apr 14, 2011 05:27 PM

How long have you had the whitelines and how do you like them?

ksesoundz17 Apr 14, 2011 07:00 PM

My compression rod blew about a month ago when I noticed a bottoming out noise everytime I hit a bump. Called and inifiniti and got it replaced for free! Thank god for extended warranties.
