Noise from driver vent area when cold (new INFO)
Noise from driver vent area when cold (new INFO)
I posted earlier about noise coming from the driver side vent and I seem to have found a little bit more info please see end of email for descrition of it.
I had a loaner G35S today and guess what it had the same noise when it was cold. I am surprised no one else has noticed it yet. Maybe I am too particular or just have better ears than most. Anyway if anyone happens to find the cause and fix please post.
THANKS
Description of the noise:
The noise seems to be coming from the general area where the left driver side air vent. It seems to be actually tied to the engine rpm rev and only comes when the car is cold and goes away when it warms up (about 5mins or so). So when the rpm moves above 1k you can start hearing this noise. It increases as the rpm goes up to 2k or so and is loudest around 2k. The noise is there even if am stopped and in neutral gear and rev up the engine. The key is car needs to cold.
The nature of sound is some sort of revolving thing or gearing rubbing or touching something very lightly as it revolves. The sound is not loud you have to pay attention to hear it.
Could it be the tachometer??
Maybe someone else has the same noise but don't know. When you start the car try to listen for it and try to pay attention to the driver side vent area.

I have the same problem on my 03 G35. iI get this sound everytime now. But only when the engine is cold. I think its the ABS system but I'm not 100% sure. Twice already it happen when I started (engine cold) driving and I hit brake and then I hear the noise. Plus i feel it also on the brake pedal. But again, I'm not sure. Maybe it was just perfect timing when I hit the brake and the noise came at the same time. I'm still trying to find this problem also. Any of you guys out there solve this problem yet??? Thanks
