Today sucks (a.k.a. useless rant)

Went to install 05-06 sedan midpipe on my 04 sedan today. Even with hitting each bolt with PB Breaker every day for a week, I still broke off every single bolt. No problem, just drill out the old studs and replace them. Each one was cake, but the last one managed to break 4 drill bits. All in all, the job took 4 hours.

My car sounds exactly like it did before. Waiting for CSBs...

The only saving grace of today was that I got my new brake pads on.

Cheer me up with a riveting tale of something you spent hours working on to find out that your car is no different than before.

I did the same swap on my car and it gets slightly louder around 1500-2000 RPMs. It's not going to be a drastic change. Don't know if that's what you expected.

Well.......when I had my tahoe I was going to install headers, my brother in law had a Z28 at the time and he put some on his car. After a quick look in the engine bay he said it should be a peice of cake, 4 hours at most. Hahaha boy was he wrong, I ordered the headers, took out the factory manifolds, we installed the passenger side header in about an hour and ten minutes total time, on to the driver side..... This is where it went wrong...... the egr recirculation valve didn't line up perfectly with the header bolted on, so we had to move and adjust the header and the gasket which ripped twice while trying to line the damn thing up (side note: never use paper gaskets). So about 7 hours later we get it on and clamped down. Start it up and realize I forgot to install some little donut gasket cone thing that seals the headers to the cats. All in all my tahoe sounded awesome and had more high end power. But the install was the biggest pain in the A$$ ever about 9 hours of fail I would call it. So I guess it could have been worse for you.

Dont want to be an ******* but this is why Im picking up a coupe middy.

Just to make you feel better; When I had my i30 I was on coupe 18's. I got a flat and drove a couple of blocks to a gas station so Im safe to get to work and change the tire. I jacked the car up, and try to get the lug nuts off and they wont budge, so I was getting super stressed and this was around 3:30am. I decided to get the spare out and chill for a bit and tackle the job at hand again. So I slowly took out my heavy 12" sub enclosure and the spare doesnt have any air and it wouldnt hold any when I tried to put air in.

Needless to say, I was super pissed and half panicking bcus Im super broke and only had about $200 in my bank account. I decided to drive home. Thats 22mi drive, I drove at 20mph and shread the tire to bits and pulled over, called 911 and they connected me to a towing company. While I was waiting I decided to call my friend who picked up the phone at 4:20am came to my rescue and we tried to get the tire off again and guess what?

I was turning the god damn lug nuts the wrong way the whole time!!!!

Thats not the end of the story, so I was on a tiny donut that came with his Galant and since I didnt have money to replace the tire, I drove around like that for a couple of weeks. My car was lowered ~2.5" and hit the tranny pan merging on to the highway and I didnt know I was leaking fluid and burned the clutch packs and had to get a new tranny.

Then a month later, I crashed it. Im a HUGE idiot!

"Righty tighty, lefty loosey"

OP, I run an 05 sedan mid and can notice a difference between that and the original 03 mid and muffler which I run in the winter. In spring/summer/fall I run my HKS.

But yeah, for a real difference, go with the coupe mid (if you can find one).

I'm really surprised you don't hear the difference, I started hearing it within a day or two.

I just installed my HKS muffler on Friday, and I broke each bolt, too. 100k miles and Minnesota winters is hell on bolts lol.

VERY TRUE! That stock midpipe is a TANK! I was surprised at how much it weighed.

I was able to one hand the new midpipe in while I was connecting all of the bolts, definitely needed two hands to keep the old one in place.
