Few Questions

hey guys, ive painted my grille black twice in the past probably year and a half. is there anything to stop it from chipping?!?! I did all the sanding, 2 coats of primer, and 4 coats of black matte paint, and 2 coats of lacquer. the thing chips like a ****, is there anything i can do or do i just need to start driving on cleaner roads?

and i need to replace my air filter. should i spend the extra money on the K&N filter or can i just toss in the cheap fram or wix filters and just change it more often? Im leaning towards the K&N, nervous about putting cheap crap in my car haha.

appreciate it

Sounds pretty similar to the way I did mine, and I don't have a chipping problem at all.

I'm guessing the issue is either in your prep work (not sanding enough, cleaning afterward) or not using a good enough primer.

*waiting for the K&N haters to flood the thread*

There's nothing wrong with the K&N if it's used correctly, ie. not over-oiled. Most on here prefer an aftermarket dry filter like the Amsoil for OEM intakes. Personally I run the R2C intake and it has one of the best filters on the market for flow and filtering ability. the filter itself is huge, looks great in the engine bay, and is washable/reusable. I bought an extra filter so I always have it on hand to swap out at a minutes notice.
