This is for the guys who have removed their front shafts for whatver reason (wheel bearings, control arms, etc)

To pop the shaft out of the hub, which of the suspension linkages did you remove?

I plan on popping the steering arm off, but what is easier next to do? Undo the upper balljoint? Or so i need to remove the lower balljoint and compression rod?

I want to do the steering link and upper balljoint, but need to know if that's enough. If someone who's done this can chime in, it would help


I plan on doing a DIY when i change my wheel bearing this weekend and want to make sure i have everything planned out with the correct tools on hand

Thanks anyway. Just want to know if removing the upper arm is sufficient to remove the half shaft from the hub. It looks easier to do thatpn the bottom balljoint does.

Reading up on how to do this wheel bearing job, seems the awd cars are similar in design to 4x4 trucks upnfront with unit bearings, than they are to FWD cars with bearings inside spindles.

Found some good techniques for popping the unit bearings off...let's see if any work on Saturday.
