future G35 owner with questions
We've owned our G35x since July with 3500 mi. driven so far. My complaints are few and far between. The only negatives that I have found so far are, in no particular order: there’s a prop rod for the hood, the controls on the center stack are backwards (but you get used to it and now I almost appreciate it), no remote gas filler release (although the filler door locks when the car is locked). Also, the carpet seems a bit thin (but this is near-luxury I suppose?). I catch a reflection in the back window from the Bose subwoofer in certain sunlight. Also, the center console appears to be made from the same material as my Sony boom box and seems like it will scratch/break easily. It actually cracked like an egg on a service visit a few weeks ago (not the dealers fault and they are replacing it). Maybe the 05 uses better materials? I've heard a rattle or two but they always seem to go away. The car feels tight as a drum.
Otherwise, no regrets with the purchase. Infiniti dealer service has been excellent as well. Good luck.

I have an 04 sedan, automatic. Non sport model but have premium package, no nav, no satellite radio but thats goona get hooked up at the dealer soon as the radio is sat ready. I drove the over priced underpowered beamer, the TL also. If you want grins, the G is for you. The 04 has 260 HP and 260 ft lb torque. This car rocks and handles. You feel like you are in a sports car. Yes, my driver side door makes a clicking noise sometimes(actually at dealer now to find the bugger) The stack plastic is not the nicest quality but has been changed for 05. Besides, for me, some wood trim in the future will add style for an affordable price, already have it on door handle pulls. The 04 will run great on regular gas but does get better mileage with mid or high test. Brake dust is a pain but hey, one of the auto mags said it best, Don't stop short cause while YOU will stop, the guy behind you won't be able to. The brakes are awesome. The drive by wire throttle can cause a dead spot with the trans until the trans grabs but nothing you can'y live with. I find if I am moving at a slow speed and throttle either slowly or very quickly, this does not happen. Everyone that has been in my car or has a close up look is impressed. I would like some 18" chrome wheels to fill out the wheel wells. That is a nice feature of the Beamers as the wells always look full. Anyway, fun car with a great roar when you push it.
got 15k miles on it in just a little over a year.
Things i like:
sporty, head turner, spanks at the drag strip, mod parts in common 350z & coupe for modding, roomy enough, awesome brakes, out of the box power! Still not tired of getting into the car.... it's a mini-vacation just going to Rite-Aid for cough drops! It's a real sleeper.
Things I don't like:
squeaks in b pillars (but dealer fixes 'em), clock gets hidden by pop up nav (fixed in 05), brake dust in front - I've seen audis, corvettes, & BMWs with the same issue, no touch screen on navi, A/C - Heater temp control is too smart for me & you can't run the air on re-circ without running the A/C too, remote unlock does not have great range (maybe 50 feet unobstructed), the driver door has no place to rest my elbow comfortably without putting my arm to sleep and the dead pedal is useless for resting your foot on (I am only 5'7")
PM me if you have any questions... cheers, Ted
